heyas;

okay, it's been a while.  i'm looking for leads to help create a character in poser -- specifically hair and clothes.  it's for zevran from dragon age.  yes, only for fan art.

http://dragonage.bioware.com/dao/characters/zevran

suggestions/links appreciated.  especially free stuff.  there's still free stuff these days, ain't there?

i think i can fake zevran's hair, if only i had a poseable braid.  why can't i find a poseable braid for free or for sale?  all these years, ain't nobody made one???

anyway, thanks for any leads!

Holy crap!! bloodsong? WOW...the old-timers are just crawling out of the woodwork lately....lol. Good to see ;).

I think BionicRooster made a poseable braid. Lemme check and I'll get back to you ;).

Hmm...I guess there really aren't any...lol. Odd ;).

www.mankahoo.com has a lot of braided hair. Maybe you could hide the hair somehow and just show the braid. Having a 30% off sale too. But all the poseable braids I could find have the hair with them.

My problem with the rigged braid was that it was 'off axis' and I would have had to edit every bone to adjust it accordingly so all would bend right, especially with Easy Pose.

Now if I just rigged it along a straight axis, and not had it connected to a skull cap, it would be usable, but you'd have to place and parent it yourself.

What length do you need it?

heyas!

omg, people still know me? :X

i just realized i had a braid on my zhao character.  its apparently 'lara hair,' from ages back.  though the braid is just spheres.

thanks, laurie! :)   mankahoo has some interesting stuff... #50 looks like the front/top i need, with a braid.  27 & 29 have less hair, more braid.  hmmm.  i have to re-check what hairs i do have.  to mix and match.

bionic rooster:  dude, i'm from like poser 3; placing and parenting props is how we used to do everything.  ;)  um... how long?  long.  ish.  20-30 segments, i would think.  i suppose it's easy enough to shorten by making parts invisible, or to lengthen into more elaborate braids by using more than one together.  so like if it went from the nape of the neck to the waistline, that should cover everything.  but yeah, if you could, make it straight and without the skull part.  perhaps like a small root that could blend in.

that would be very cool, thank you.  :)

okay, anybody with any lines on fantasy rogue gear, leather armor... oh, maybe a xena-style leather strap kilt?  i'm really liking the 'alchemist' for m4 over on daz (am i allowed to say that here?).  though i'd have to adjust it for my figures.  i guess that's true for everything these days, anyway.

I course we remember you ;). How could I forget your swan? I used to use it in darn near every image I did at the time...lolol. Of course, that just means I've been doing this stuff way too long...lmao.

Bloodsong! Dang! The swan was pretty cool indeed. I remember you back from the days when hair looked like a plastic hat. I saw a post by Steveshanks recently.

Dragon Age. Loved it! Two? Not as much-but still excellent. I liked the characters better in 1,

I had romance with Morrigan- and I was dissapointed in not finding her and our Old God kid. :-)

Hey bloodsong........I am still using your dragon factory!  Happy holidays!

yo, T!  ../,    omg, dragon factory!  more power to ya!

hahahah, yeah eric... dragon age 2 was so video-game-like.  i still love dragon age.  i wanted to play it like 5 times, but....  somehow i don't.

you romanced morrigan?  you brave, brave man!  :)

speaking of which... i am writing a huge dragon age fanfic story.  planned to be about five 'books' worth.  and some other dragon age stuff.  you can find info at bloodsong13t.wordpress.com

omg, yes, the swan.  and hokusai's lovely wings.  they never did fold nice :/

laurie, i know i know you, but i'm horrid with names, and there were a couple people whose name started with L... lol!  remind me which L person are you?

hey... should i ask here about a cpt jack harkness (from torchwood) poser figure, or start a new thread?  i might need one of those, too.  well.  want more than need.  it'd be fun, let's say.

oh, and i figured out how to get the armor i want!  now i just need hair.  annnnd to get a face morph that looks enough like zevran.  i tried bishonen for m3, that didn't come out too well.  though it might do for my other elf character.

I used to be Daffy34 here for a long time. I forget what name I was using when it was Poser Forum Online....lmao. For that, your guess is as good as mine :P

My name really is Laurie. I use to do a lot of Vue stuff back in the day ;). And yeah, you do know me, but it's been a long, long while...lol.

Yay!  Bloodsong is back!  :woot:  I had your book out the other day, while examining cr2 internals.

A Captain Jack character would be danged nifty.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Yep, I got the book too! LOL

I still don't know how to rig, tho it's not the fault of the book...grumble, grumble I'm just thick as all get-out...lol. Dang, I know I have an old pick of the Antelope (wildebeast specifically) around here someplace :P.

bloodsong the brave lady that took on the challenge of creating a porcupine.  I still have him (Porcy). It is really great to see your handle again! I have the book too and some adorable wild beasties figures that I still use.

Eric Walters ( ) posted Mon, 26 December 2011 at 7:52 PM

I agree about 2- just did not get my involvement the way 1 did.I downloaded a game continuation involving a dwarf-but I did not even finish it.

Morrigan- Yep, I guess I'm a sucker for troubled women. I found enough hints of "good" to keep me going. Enough that it troubled her to leave. I hope they bring the originals back for D3. I want to find out how a hero, a sorceress, and their Old God kid get along. :-)

After I'm ready to take a break from Skyrim, I may have to go back and romance Leilani. :-) Cool Blog btw!

Hokusai's wings? Of course! I had a Posette Angel character back in the PoserForumOnline days.

Good to see you again :)

What figure are you looking for? I am guessing M3 but I am not sure.

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 3:54 PM

the laurie from the vue store site thing, right?  i thought that was who it was!

(omg that was forever ago :X )

cage: the cr2 is still the same?  i had the book out too... because i was doing some experiments with animating custom models for second life... and i couldn't remember how to use phi builder :X

lilwolff!  and porcy!  omg, i remember that!  (boy, was that forever ago, too! :X )

okay, eric, i know you under another name, don't i?  hmmm...!  glad you liked the blog.  did you only play dragon age once??  yeah, the folks i know played it over 15 times or so.  i'm still on... i did it twice.  and a half.  and i'm re-doing my second character so i can recall the details for his fanfic.

ghost of macbeth!  you're alive!  uh... or undead, whichever.  i WAS trying michael 2 with the boris morph set, because... well, its the boris morph set, THE most comprehensive head morph set around (at the time).  and the shades of michael skins.  but now i've been playing with m3, and i like the zhao skin for zevran and the higher rez figure.  but i'm having a hard time finding my head morphs for m3... !!!

or did you mean captain jack?  m3 for him, definitely.

while we're still here... im NOT asking for any files!!!  but i'm looking through my 'humans' folder and my m3 does not appear to have all his head morphs.  in fact, i can't find any m3 with head morphs (except expression ones).  i KNOW i had some. now i need to dig out of my CDs the original michael 3 files to re-extract him. does anybody have a clue what year those were, and/or what the file name was?

oh, this is gonna be a loooooooong weekend.

ps_mr048-m3headmorphs.exe = M3 Head morphs 2003

ps_mr049-m3bodymorph.exe Body morphs...In case you need em ;)

I reset my download at Daz to get the filename. Seemed the quickest way...lol. I'd have to root thru my dvds too...hehe.

Several new things have been added to the cr2 format, but none of the old things have been altered.  Poser's always pretty good about maintaining compatibility with older versions.

You might find the new Dependent Parameters and some of the new joint options particularly interesting.  Your old webbed hand problem can now be easily dealt with, using the rigging and weight-mapping options of Poser 9/Poser Pro 2012.

I did notice that the book (and Kuroyume's cr2 documentation) treated the OffsetA and OffsetB listings as mysterious.  I think VK worked out what those do, some time ago.  When rotating or scaling an object in code, one has to first translate the object to world zero, to avoid distortion.  Poser has the information for this process built in, to apply it to joints.  The OffsetA listing moves the actor to zero, internally, then the OffsetB moves it back after the transforms are applied.  Or such is my understanding.

For M3 I am thinking the best outfit might be a combination of things from Xurge http://www.xurge3d.com/daz_3d_s_michael_3?cmx=90&start=0 (On dale until the end of the year).

This set might also be good for some parts. http://www.daz3d.com/i/shop/itemdetails/?item=4492 and there is an add on here at Rendo for textures. (Also on sale).

Can't think of much for Captain Jack.

And yep, still alive :) Glad to see you are too.

laurie gets the geek award!!

i did find m3 morph pak on my poser cd #7.  whew!  now if i could just get sculptris to stop FUBARing any obj i import into it to make morphs with...!

cage:   wow!  that's.... still mysterious!  lol!

hey, does poser 9 or 2012 export dae 1.4 format files with rigs intact?  anybody know? cuz... i might need that.

ghost:  thanks a tonne!  omg, xurge has a altair-esque outfit!?!? squeee!!!  (okay, you did NOT just see that!)

annnnnnd, where on earth can i get the hair on this elf lord guy?

http://www.xurge3d.com/inc/sdetail/90/237

harkness just needs some regular trousers and button shirt, suspenders (bracers), and that natty WWII coat.  :X

PS:  is there any way to find my threads, on the site?  like in my pages somewhere.  (yeah, my ONE thread; i don't want to lose it.)

That's the Aredhel hair from DAZ, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available anymore.

While I've got you here....... ;) I remember a long time ago on some blog you had you mentioned you were doing something to make the Heavy horse work in DAZ Studio and were going to submit it to DAZ, did that ever happen? I'd LOVE to be able to use it without having to import it from Poser. Even after all these years it's still my favorite horsie. :) (My avatar look familiar?).
