Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 09 11:21 pm)
I have seen the market place but I need my own art. I own a business and need to offer a new line of artwork to my clients projects.
Thank
Kimberly

since youre new at this, custom morphing faces from scratch is likely out since its not a simple matter to completely remorph the eye area.
youre much better off picking up a premade character thats close to what you want and then further morphing that to customize it. pretty much everything here comes with commercial use rights.
...or try one of the Aiko figures at Daz - theyre manga-ish variants that come with 'the big eyes' :)
Then you may have choosen the wrong software. Poser is a 3D art application which was originally developed to help artist with a virtual mannequin as opposed to an actual wooden doll. Now it is a full fledge application for posing, constructing scenes and manipulating 3D mesh which can be rendered within Poser's render engine. There are legacy characters provided and there are numerous 3rd party figures with morph packages available which can create a multitude of additional characters as the spin of a few dials or clicks. But the learning curve can be steep. What you are inquiring to accomplish can be done in Poser, but you will need specific packages and perhaps additional modelling software to create the right look.
Quote - It would help if you could tell us what version of poser you are using, and what figure your are trying to work with.

I have poser pro 2012 and I have been mostly working with Casual Child P2 Lo but have tried several other figures today.

Try this:-
Select the right eye.
In the properties panel ensure that "bending" is turned on. Some are off by default which may cause issues but we'll deal with those later.
Go to the Poser menu: Object > Create magnet.
Select the new magnet and in its properties panel click "Add Elements to deform". Add the head.
Still with the magnet selected go to its parameters panel and increase the scale.
Repeat for left eye.
You may need to increase the scale of the Magnet Zone to include more of the head. Also position the magnet base to be at the center of the eye.

I will toss another question in this thread. I found a really cute kitten as a poser model. Where do you go to design the mess frame for something like that? or an alien or toy etc..
Just wondering

You use a modelling app, such as 3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave, Blender, Wings, etc. They range in price from very expensive down to free. Steep learning curve and you'll find that making the model is only half the story. After that you have to rig it (so it moves) and texture it (so it looks like the thing you have in mind, rather than a plastic or clay model). IMO, if you want the big eyed child look, you'll find it easier initially to get the DAZ figures and morph packs, rather than use magnets on the included Poser content. As a shortcut, Thorne and Sarsa make many wide eyed child type characters for (mainly) DAZ figures.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Pffft! You sir, are a genius. I very much doubt many people could do what you do.

Quote - There again if a self taught 57 yr old ex-plumber can do this stuff then anyone can :)
I am a 48 year old pre school teacher who got sick of screaming kids and bought a corel draw book back on version 3 and self taught myself for years now so I could run my little business in peace. So I do get it! - now if I can just get this software :)

If you have the time, look through the galleries and see if you can spot a picture that is using something close to what you want. See if the comments include information of what was used or PM the artist and ask.
If you are wanting anime type figures, Aiko 3 or Aiko 4 would be a good choice, though there are others available as well.
I have been buying poser art today and dissecting them to learn and trying to do the magnet tutor posted but having a heck of a time getting a whole section. I am finding grouping to be a huge issue.
What I need is more life like still art charactors I can pose to keep my clients from going other place when they want a web page design or speical art work. I simple can't give them what the want with Corel Draw.
Thanks for the tips, I will check those program out

Hello, I am very new to poser but have been using corel draw since version 3 and now use X5.
Either I bought to wrong software to do what I want or I am missing something.
I can't figure out how to make child like faces with the big eyes. I've been read and working on the face editing section for nine hours today and I can't get the face even near what I want. I got hair figure out and coming close on the clothing but the face has really thrown me.
Is there a way to edit the face other than the face editing part? Or can you load another face in the face editor to work with?
P.S. I am not doing animate, I need poser still shots (png exports).
Thank you
Kimber
