Subject: Figure yRotate problem

JimIn310 ( ) posted Fri, 06 January 2012 at 2:01 AM · edited Sat, 25 January 2025 at 1:01 AM

Just finished rigging a figure and everything work fine save for 1 item.  When I rotate the body using yRotate, it 'leans' as it gets to 180 degrees and goes back to normal when it get to 360 (or 0) degrees.  Can anyone tell me what I did wrong this time (other figures I've done do not have this problem) and how can I fix it?

Thank you.

Assuming that the x and zRotation of the BODY are zero when you yRotate it, the only thing I can think of that would cause it to 'lean', is if the orientations of the BODY are not zero. With the BODY selected, open the Joint Editor, and check that all the orientation dials are set to zero.

Also check the 'Joint Order', as this can affect how the BODY yRotates when the x and zRotation of the BODY are not zero. Normally the rotation order for the BODY should be YXZ.

lesbently -

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I just had a chance to try what you suggested and it fixed the issue.  I would have never thought to check the joint editor.

Now if I could only figure out how I screwed up the setting in the first place.....
