Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 19 10:45 am)
You can just point the library to your old Runtime and access the content.
Download my free stuff here: http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.php?page=2&userid=323368
If you installed with the default settings your Poser 8 content will be in a folder named "Poser 8 Content". Poser Pro 2012 content will be in a folder named "Poser Pro 2012 Content". One will not interfere with the other and you will be able to access both libraries from both applications.
Non-default installations, similar.
A couple of the upsides to using the newer version of the content included with Poser Pro 2012 is that it will include new weight mapped versions of the old Poser 8 humans along with a new weight mapped dragon. This may not sound like much, but there are two compelling advantages over simply re-linking to your Poser 8 content and skipping the Pro 2012 content.
One is that we completely reorganized the content into logically named groupings and sections (people, animals, vehicles, etc.); we ditched the previous version by version listings meaning it's a lot easier to find and use what's included. Pro 2012 includes everything that's in Poser 8 as well, so the only drawback is download time.
Two is that the new weight mapped figures are getting some much needed support, and that is just starting to gain traction. Anastasia for example is an artisitcally gorgeous add-on weight mapped character based on the included Alyson 2 figure that is furnished in Poser Pro 2012.

Thinking about making the switch... I don't have a lot invested in Poser 8 which is why I'm thinking about it now rather than later. So my question might be kind of dumb, but if I do switch do I have to reinstall all the content I do have? Or, is there a sort of "find Poser content" type deal so that with one or two clicks I can have everything switched over?
TIA for answers. :)
