I was making a vase and wanted to put a picture on it, the picture I am using is clean and cropped to the image, but when I put it all together, I get these interesting lines that are not in the original pic, I actually kind of like it but don't understand it.

Whats up with that?

It would be beneficial if you provided a screen grab of the material editor showing how you’re using the image and the type of mapping you’re using on the object.

have you tried changing the world space to something else other than object front?

I have, I have been up and down the list, Everything wlse just multiplies it, this is the only setting that I get a single pic.

Yes, you’re incorporating all three maps (A,B, and C) in your diffuse channel. It looks like your C material is causing the extra features to your vase. You can test this by eliminating the C material from the diffuse channel and see how it affects the overall look. Other factors to consider is how that material is put together within the deep editor itself.

That didn't change anythig other than make it smooth. There are no solid lines used in the dte. You will note the lines are the same color as the pic itself

Oh, I thought you were talking about the patina dusting that isn’t in the original bird image. See if this helps.

I think what happens is that the scale of the texture doesn't cover the entire object, so the outer pixels of the texture get repeated.

Oh, another way to position the graphic would be to make a cylindrical texture map (a map thats designed to get wrapped around the entire vase like a cylinder)

I see what I did wrong, thanks all, I just enlarged the background of the image, that took care of it.

You might also uncheck the pict interpolation option at the bottom of the mapping menu, during testing we found similar issues like this and turning that off resolved the issue.

Do atleast one thing a day that scares the hell outta ya!!

Sometimes, UVDan, the next turn seems obscured by, like, a house of doughnuts and I seem to miss it.

I was going to say the gold of your bird comes right up to the edge of the image. Try Doubling the canvas size of the original image like this. You should be able to apply it object side and have it wrap without distortion or lines.

Thats what I did, turned out pretty good. Thanks though, I'm appreciative for everyone giving me Ideas. The pic was just a clip art, the one I actually used was a feather I made.

Been doin a study in vases... for some reason, but I came up with a couple of good tex's because of it.

Thinkin about some freebies, anyone interested?
