THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Beginner Tree Question

So I just downloaded the PLE version and it seems like I can only make one type of tree, which I can edit a bit.  Is this true?  I'm finding the Bryce UI a little difficult to understand!

OK nevermind I think I found more trees... but can anyone tell me with the PLE if I can save/export/import and if there is a size limit on the final render image like Vue has?  TIA.

With any Bryce, be it PLE or Pro, you can import/export as .obj, 3ds, Lightwave files and objects, and a few others, check file/import objects. The problem is with the materials, not all imports will bring the materials with it, and if importing an object with multiple textures, they will all seperate, and is difficult to put back together, and some you will be able to ungroup and texture yourself on imports. But you can export as an Object Bryce Preset, or a .obp to use in bryce.

As to the final size, the only restrictions I have found were within Bryce, in the internal memory, Bryce being only a 24 bit program, if you cram too much into a scene, you can easily run out of memory. But I haven't really made any ginormous renders, so not sure.

Hope this helps.

You should never doubt what no one is even sure about.

When you use the "render to disc" mode, you can render up to resolutions of many thousands of pixels wide/high. Bryce's memory management is pretty decent actually :D

Hi TheDuckee

If you are finding the tree lab lacking there is a way you can make your own. go to Photoshop(or some other graphic/photoeditor) and set up a document 800Px With 600px Height and set it on Greyscale. Then get out a grey coloured brush and then paint a few dots. Then get a white Brush and do the same. When you have done open Bryce 7 PLE and select a Terrain or Lattice and open the image you have made up and you will get different heighted trees. You can also draw individual trees in this way. Another thing you can do is either Upgrade to Bryce 7 Pro or get an old 3d World Magazine from about 2 Christmas's ago it has a picture of a girl and a lizard on it buy it and you will get the full version of Bryce 6.3 (however take this into account you cannot open old Bryce files from Bryce 7 Ple to Bryce 6.3 (i'm not sure about Bryce 7 pro) they have a good selection of Trees in Bryce 6.3.

Hope this helps

Karl
