First i render and all is ok.. JUST go inside the material room and change the color texture to make-up 1..

I don't change light and render settings, and click render again, and now it's all BLACK???

Can someone understand what it is??

I have installed the SR1 and updated the videocard, but nothing helps:-(

The file locker isn't ok, so here it is again:

I have also done this as smith micro says:

https://support.smithmicro.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2076/~/solving-weird-issues-with-poser-by-removing-the-preferences

and after this they say I shall  download the new update package for Poser Pro 2012 and install it..

I have done all this, but still same error:-(

Did you run any scripts on the original skin texture?

Mariny ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 4:50 PM

Yes i used a script for setting up sss shader, and have altered them.. But the original texture render well, but not after i have been in the material room and change the color texture

Mariny ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 4:54 PM

The script give me nodes i can change in the material room...

morgothemage ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 4:55 PM

this happened to me once due to lighting, i used a speculur light with no other light in scene

Mariny ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 5:02 PM · edited Sat, 28 January 2012 at 5:03 PM

I have tried many lights, but the same...
And this happens ONLY when I have SSS shader on her...

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 6:40 PM

You are using raytrace lighting?

Mariny ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 6:41 PM

I have now tried to render on my laptop too, and same thing happens there.. BUT

I see now that it happens when i Check "subsurface scattering" in the render settings..When i uncheck, the black is gone???

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 6:47 PM

I didn't get an answer to my post.

Have you checked out the RuntimeDNA forum?  That was the testing grounds for P9/PP2012 pre-release and contains significant information concerning the new features.  One bit of information was about the Wacros SSS node setup and how it is not one of preference for realistic skin textures.

hborre ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 6:49 PM

This is the thread you should read to better understand the approach in using SSS.

adroge ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2012 at 9:22 PM

it looks like you're running into an extreme case of the black spot problem with SSS. Report this to Smith Micro. I still see this black spot problem with sp1.

jonnybode ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 12:22 AM · edited Sun, 29 January 2012 at 12:25 AM

If you change the diffuse value from 0 to 1 and click on the head, does that solve it?

This has happend to me when ive used an SSS shader on a character with the diffuse value set to 0 .

If i later apply an old simple mat file from the pose folder it wont change the diffuse value to something greater then 0 and thus render black.

Mariny ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 3:16 AM

hborre: Yes,I have raytraced shadow in the light, and raytrace on in the render setting...

jonnybode: i used 1instead of 0 in diffuse value, the same problem:-(

I got that with Ppro2010-and 2012, SR1. Even when previous renders are fine-and I'm making small changes in my scene- then for no good reason- black-no errors on my part-just a bug. If I close and reopen the scene sometimes it fixes it. The most recurrent version I see is IDL pass, good, SSS, good- then Render- GREY

I have now written to smith micro, and hope they can help:-))

hborre ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 11:04 AM

The only thing I can recommend at the moment, go to the extreme upper right hand corner of the preview window and click on the little arrow.  That will open a menu; select reload textures and try your render again.

ToxicWolf ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 11:37 AM

I saw the exact same thing when I pulled up a pz3 I made in PP2012 with PP2010.  I had applied SSS to the image in PP2012 and it rendered black like yours in PP2010.  Must have something to do with SSS, becase when I removed the skin texture and reapplied it without the SSS in PP2010, it worked just fine.

Is it possible to render the sss shader in poserpro 2010???

Isn't it a new feature just in poser 9/poserpro 2012??

In other poser versions it's just a face sub surface scattering???

hborre ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 1:31 PM

PP2010 does not have SSS capabilities.  It can be faked, but the node does not exist.

hborre ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 1:51 PM

May I suggest, if you can post a screencap of the Mat Room with all the nodes open and connectors visible so we may duplicate the set up.  At the moment, your original posting does not show such information.

And, BTW, you can upload images to the forum directly, no need to use an external source.  Look at the bottom of the thread where is says Attach A File.

corinthianscori ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 6:44 PM

I get this problem when using SSS and then using the V4 Skin Realism Kit. That Skin Realism Kit is great but it does not work with SSS; it was made before SSS existed.

Sometimes, python scripts alter node/material settings without taking SSS into account. That might be the problem. I'm still searching the forums at runtimedna; I know I saw someone else with this problem and Poser Pro 2012.

ToxicWolf ( ) posted Sun, 29 January 2012 at 7:19 PM · edited Sun, 29 January 2012 at 7:27 PM

Sorry I did not explain this well.  PP2010 does not use SSS, so when I loaded a PP2012 pz3 with SSS PP2010 did not load the subsurface skin node but it kept all of the other changes that were made by PP2012 when I added SSS to the skin.

When it loads the node it changes the initial "Diffuse Value" from 1 to 0 and uses the "Alternate Diffuse".  When PP2010 removed the subsurface skin node it left the diffuse value at zero and that was what was giving me the black skin.

I just wanted to let you know that there are some changes made with SSS that may not be obvious at first glance.  If you are getting black skin texture check the diffuse value settings. Other scripts may be effecting different settings.

I get crazy with Poser pro 2012:-)

Today the face renders ok, but now the hair get black spots??

Here you see my render settings too:-))

hborre ( ) posted Mon, 30 January 2012 at 9:17 AM

Have you tried rendering without IDL?

vilters ( ) posted Mon, 30 January 2012 at 9:51 AM

My guess is
You are rendering with IDL and you have some AO somewhere.
on a light or on a material.

I can go by train.
I can go by bus.
But I can not go by train and bus at the same time.

If you render with IDL, be absolutely SURE there is NO AO anywhere.

It works? From time to time you can get away with it.
Mostly however, they fight a fierce battle.

Oh, and that blue tint around the mouth? Will be gone soon.

Question;
Do you have SSS on the hair too?

I checked and it was AO on a light:-))
