Very (VERY!) nicely done Steve! love it.
Only one thing: the grass & weeds that are growing on the streets are quite saturated green. A bit too green for my taste. I'd imagine it more dry looking, a bit more yellowish. But then again perhaps that's me in dry Southern California. You're in England, where rain is not a rare commodity LOL so perhaps it does look that green indeed :-)
If you need help creating additional shrubbery, I've got a copy of PD Pro Howler waiting for you. Particle brushes can make tufts of grass quickly, for mapping onto billboard polygons. Of course in Carrara you probably use the real Plant object, right?

re shrubs: Yes I tried mapping onto flats but the shadows let it down, most of the shrubs are plant objects for that reason, and yes things are a bit greener in the UK - we seem to attract the rain!
That is very impressive. That's a huge set with a ton of detail. The texturing and finish on every thing matches. Just really nice where nothing looks out of place or like it was done in a different style. I might add a bit more ambiant light and the sky is overly clear of clouds. All in all, a huge amount of really nicely done detailed work

Thanks. Yes more ambient light would have been correct.
I didn't want to wash out the models (so I went for slightly less realistic for a better demo of the models). Also clouds seemed to slow down the rendering, otherwise they would have been left in.
I just watched your tutorals over at the Daz forums and am even more impressed. Last big project I did was 2001, with 7 to 9 computers, about 45 min per frame render times, way to many trade offs and still took around 5 months of render time. The world has changed quite a bit since then and you seem to have a really good handle on both the art and tech sides of it. Outstanding renders given the render times. Thanks for the sharing and the tutorals.

The good news is that even on an older computer (mines the chipset before the i5 came out,so only mid tech now), by compromising slightly on the lighting I can get complex scenes rendering in 1 min to 1 min 23 (per frame) for most frames.
I'm not sure if you saw this video but it explains my compromise (which was used to produce the scene) - link should be somewhere in this message.
