It was clear in the feedback from our members that there is a definite need for the Forum Challenge to remain as a monthly event. It was said that it encourages artists to step out of their comfort zones and try new genres. It motivates others to learn something new and for some it is a source of inspiration. Above all it is great fun!
With the above in mind, we have made the decision that the Forum Challenge will remain as a monthly event with some very subtle changes:
The subjects will be 'simpler' or more direct. We will start off with some of the genres on the site and I'm sure inspiration for new subjects will flow from that.
Should we run out of subject ideas, we will open a thread and ask for subject ideas from the members. So keep an eye on the Photography Forum!
We will ensure that the Forum Challenge link on the Photography Homepage is updated monthly.
As always, images that are uploaded to the Forum Challenge can definitely also be posted in the member's gallery. This has not changed.
We will increase the number of uploads to the Forum Challenge to two images per member per week. That will also keep the interest going for the duration of the month and will give members an incentive to capture new images specifically for the month's subject.
We strongly recommend that you take "new" images for the challenge each month. That is the main purpose - to "challenge" you to develop your skills in all genres. Try not to scratch in ancient folders for images.
PK will upload the new monthly challenge on or around March 1st and I will take over again from her when I return from my holiday on March 22nd.
I am really looking forward to a renewed energy and participation in our monthly challenges.
Once again - thank you to everyone for your ideas and thoughts on this.
Warm regards
Carin

"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."
