Subject: Organising Favorites

I'm trying to use the favorites tab in Poser Pro 2012 to sort out the stuff in my runtimes. I can create folders and sub-folders but once I've created a folder I can't find any way of re-naming it or deleting it. I can remove items from folders but I can't remove folders so now I've got mistyped folder names and folders I created in the wrong place that I can't fix.

Am I missing something obvious here? I expect applications to provide ways to correct mistakes and to get rid of things you don't want any more. It seems crazy to me that they wouldn't have provided any way to do this.

Just use Explorer. We gave up trying to make the library GUI be as feature rich and robust as the actual file explorer you get with the OS. It's years of work. It would add significantly to the cost while providing very little benefit.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Note: The full paths of all that you see in the library are shown in the library a couple ways. If you have them turned on, hover tips will show you the path, and the details panel will as well. Once you understand where things are in the file system, it's very straightforward to move, rename, delete, backup, restore, etc. using your favorite file management tools.

It's getting clearer now. I had a look around and found a directory called "Collections" in my main runtime with the same layout as the favorites tab. It looks fairly straightforward, as far as I can see the actual items are shortcuts to the files but the png thumbnails are copied into the directory. Renaming folders with windows explorer updates the favorites tab OK. I assume that if I can work out a way of making the shortcuts and doing the copies I could create new folders and populate them without using the "Add to Favorites" button.

Yes you absolutely could. They are just ordinary shortcuts.

Guess what else - you can load content from Windows Explorer. Just drag stuff into the preview. Any Poser file - material, pose, prop, etc.
