Subject: morph and pose problem

davedoo ( ) posted Mon, 27 February 2012 at 11:47 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 8:09 AM

Hi, I've custom made a cloth conform to a character. I pose the character then I use the morph tool to make some morphs on the cloth. I save it as a pose into the library, but the next time when I apply the pose to the character, the morph did not shown up. So how can I load a pose with the morphs intact ?

Thanks.

IIRC, the Poser morph tool creates a new dial on the Properties/Parameters palette for your new morph.

a couple thoughts on this one , when you saved the pose to library, did you include morphs?.... after creating the custom morph, did you update the figure file to have the new custom morph in the figure the next time you loaded it?.... if you missed either of these steps its not going to work... dont feel bad if you made these mistakes , we all do it from time to time ,  best insurance against 'boo-boo's' is saving the scene so you can backtrack and fix things you may overlook...

EDIT:sorry i mis-read and thought it was a conforming figure, ill leave previous  post intact for those who may find it usefull, again you have to save the morphs to the pose and update the prop in library to include the new morph, also dont depend on the custom morph to stay intact during save and reload.... under the object tab click spawn morph target  name it something meaningful and delete/or zero the custom morph, again saving the PZ3 is always good insurance untill prop has been tested...

davedoo,

I think it would be much easier if you saved the cloth with the morph in it. If you really do want to inject the morph from a pose, read the post "How to make Delta (morph) Injection Poses for Custom Morphs?" on this page. Note that I don't know if svdl's free "SpawnCharacterP6 update" py script still works in the latest Poser versions, but the other methods should.

hi hborre, i did it in poser pro 2012 using the morph tool  and yes, as you mentioned it created a new dial. i save the pose into pose library and close the scene. then open a new scene, load the character and conform cloth, select the character and apply the pose , but the morph dissapear. its not showing up.

as JAFO mention, could it be it has to be update before saving the pose to the library. i don't see any update option for it :(

i'm alwasy so confuse with the IRC, ERC...... etc ? its hard for me to understand :(

davedoo,

You are misunderstanding what is saved in a pose. Saving a pose from the Poser interface does not save morphs (deltas). Saving a pose from the Poser interface only saves dial values (keys values). When you tick the "Include Morph channels in pose set", this only includes the dial values for the morph channels, not the whole channel with deltas and all.

Of course you will have seen delta injection poses that do inject morphs into a figure, but these are made via third party software. Poser itself does not include the tools to make delta injection poses.

thanks lesbentley. now i see..... will look into the inject morphs.

Unfortunately not. We were lucky that this script, last updated for P6, continued to work through Poser 8 / 2010. But the current Poser breaks many of those old scripts. A few vendors, but too few, have converted their commercial scripts to wxpython, which avoids the tkinter-based problems in thenew Posers.
