Subject: HMS Victory files part 2 and 5 cannot be downloaded

wimvdb ( ) posted Tue, 28 February 2012 at 4:40 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 1:21 PM

I have repeatedly tried to download the files for HMS Victory. Part 2 and 5 repeatedly got stuck in the middle (each time at the same place). I tried a different browser (Chrome) and the same thing happened.

These were the only 2 files out of the 56 files I have downloaded today (order 112093370)

Could you please verify these files are correct?

wimvdb ( ) posted Tue, 28 February 2012 at 4:59 AM

While unzipping the downloaded files, I discovered that the HMS Victory files which did download caused zip errors. So there is definitely something wrong with the download files in this product

Hello,

I have pointed someone from the MargetPlace staff to this thread for further assistance.

I am sure they will respond as soon as they have some answers.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Hello again,

Please provide me with the order # so I can reset your downloads for you and you can try again.

This product was tested and there were no issues and we just downloaded it and unzipped it as well without any problems.

We are using Winzip, please try using the latest version of Winzip as well as it could be the way the vendor zipped the files.

Please send an email to store@renderosity.com if you continue to have trouble.

Thank you,

I gave the order number (112093370) in my first post

The download problem has nothing to do with the zip version - there is nothing to unzip

I use the built-in windows unzipper and the latest version of WinRAR. All of the zip files from this product fail.

You can reset the downloads, but if you have not changed the files themselves, I doubt it will work. Did you try to download it from outside Renderosity?

Edit: One addition here - you can open the zip file OK, the errors occur when you extract the files

Thank you for sending an email to store staff as I will get with other staff members to see if we can figure out what the problem is.

I will be in touch shortly through the email sent to store@renderosity.com.

Thank you again and have a great day!

I had the same problem1 year  ago... Kristi resettet the Download and I cleared my caches before.after that I could get the Download full. The error is why the Download didnt fullfilled correct. I deleted them and after cleaning cache and reset ist worked fine. And in one case Krist gave me an alternative Download

wimvdb ( ) posted Tue, 28 February 2012 at 4:49 PM

I used 2 different browsers which each have a different cache. They all fail at the same percentage. It also does not explain why the other zip files were corrupt. (And only the ones from the same product - all other products were fine)

But I sent an email, so I hope they will rezip and send a different download link

pattyh1970 ( ) posted Tue, 28 February 2012 at 4:55 PM · edited Tue, 28 February 2012 at 4:56 PM

I tried it too with all my Browsers. Chrome, IE and Firefox. The stupid thing was.. Most Downloads worked fine,  but in one product with 3 zips 1 worked, the others not And always on the same part ist stopped loading. I used all Browsers, rbooted my PC  had the corrupt files, some endet with zip.html - deleting the .html didn´t help nothing helped since I cleared all the caches and they resetted the Purchases

KristiS ( ) posted Tue, 28 February 2012 at 4:59 PM

I have reset the downloads so hopefully it will work. Please do as Pattyh suggested and clear everything and redownload them.

Also, please be sure to disable any download accelerator/manager you may have running before doing so as they do not work with our system.

Please let me know if doing all this works..fingers crossed :)

Thank you and have a nice day!

No, it did not work. I cleared the cache (which I did not expect to work since Chrome had the same problem)

Part2 stopped at 38% like all the other times I have tried and Part1 did download (as before) but cannot be extracted. Exactly the same.

I also tried it on another system which has no AV software installed, is never used on the internet and exactly the same thing happens with the download: It stops at 38%

KristiS - did you (or someone else) rezip the files? I think the problem occurs because of the way the files have been zipped (one side encounters End of File, the other does not)

So part 1,3 and 4 have zip errors and part 2 stops at 38% and part 5 stops at 66%

It must be the files themselves

pattyh1970 ( ) posted Tue, 28 February 2012 at 5:54 PM

Dear wimvdb I hope it will work soon.. If they put the zips to an alternative location - like they once did by me. You even had 1 more percent than I had if it always stopped at 37%. I was really unhappy if that happened or the other times with the corrupt zips. But after a few posts than it worked. Wishing You that it will be soon at Yours to. I send You my thumby u and blessings

Kristi by helping I may can give a lil back what You treated good to me

Rjon37 ( ) posted Wed, 29 February 2012 at 4:54 AM

I am having the same problem with the downloaded zips from this product , I've tried downloading again to a different computer with the same result. The files download O.K. but each time I try opening them using Windows own extractor I get a error message stating;" Windows cannot complete the extraction the destination file could not be created"

All other items ordered at the same time open without any problem.

wimvdb ( ) posted Wed, 29 February 2012 at 5:05 AM

For me 2 of the 5 downloads stop at exactly the same spots with different browsers and with different machines. The 3 other downloads cannot be extraced (I tried 3 different programs)

I have not heard back yet, but I really hope they rezip the files into a more compatible program so we are able to get the product

pattyh1970 ( ) posted Wed, 29 February 2012 at 7:15 AM

this is what I hope for You all too. I purchades 5 products yesterday and hope my downloads today work fine

KristiS ( ) posted Wed, 29 February 2012 at 10:16 AM

We have been in touch with the vendor and it is the way the files were zipped as I first suggested, they will work fine when using Winzip which is why I nor the testers had problems with them.

We are trying to get this all worked out with the vendor so please be patient and I will respond back in here as soon as this has been resolved.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Try using 7-zip and see what error message you get.

Posting the exact message should help with diagnosing the problem.

wimvdb ( ) posted Wed, 29 February 2012 at 1:08 PM

Everybody is concentrating on the zip errors - that was the lesser part of the problem. The fact that I was unable to download part of the product files was the major one.

The vendor has contacted me and provided me with an alternative link - Thanks Tony!

Using 7z I was now able to decompress the files. Product loads and renders fine now

Thanks for your help
