Subject: Spooky Install Disk Failure

rainfrey ( ) posted Sat, 03 March 2012 at 5:18 PM · edited Tue, 24 September 2024 at 10:10 PM

Hi All,

I have a licensed 2 disk set of Poser Pro 2012. I just bought a new system (mostly for Poser use) and am in process of installing programs. All other apps (many so far) have installed cleanly from the DVD/CD/ RW drive -- BUT -- the Poser install disk will not mount. Windows 7 does not see the disk.

The Disk has no smudges, smears or scratches on it. It was only used once on my previous computer and has been stored in the hard plastic case since I got it. It will no longer mount on my other system either -- and that's the very machine where I originally installed PP 2012--  from this same disk!

Again, the drive works fine on other disks including the Poser accessories disk that came with 2012 -- BUT THE INSTALL DISK DOES NOT MOUNT -- and there are no visible marks or disctortion.

Any ideas or suggestions? It is hopeless and I have to purchase a replacement disk?

Not a clue here . . .

Thanks,

~ R

Make sure you are using the Windows disk and not the Mac one.

That could be it. I freaked out when I first started to install 2012 on my new maching because nothing would happen when I put in the disk. I actually found the answer here in the forum and went back and tried the Windows disk. Worked like a charm.

Boy do I feel dumb!

I guess that's what happens when we get more and more far sighted. Now if I had actually read the disk label, well . . .

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I guess I was remembering an older version that came with several disks.

Guess it's time for new reading glasses.

Cheers,

~ R

Be sure to make a backup copy of the disk, as my Poser 7 install disk failed for no obvious reason; fortunately I had made a copy...

Don't feel bad RainFrey. This happened to a lot of people. The printing on the disk is very small.

Thanks ToxicWolf, nice of you to say.

Of course considering that I got it right the first time when I installed it on my previous computer, well, I felt a little sheepish (no wolf joke intended) about missing it this time.
