Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 18 10:25 pm)
My knowledge is limited, granted.
Neon lit cars in present day "old" Hollywood have undercarriage strips fore to aft on both sides, but rarely transverse (perhaps a personal choice, granted).
The overall environment usually has greater contrast - what's going on with the bright area on the right?- with less throw (influence? distance?) from the neons, since these lights will surely respect square inverse distance.
So in LDR: not working. HDR? Possibilities open a bit. Subtlety is never a bad thing.
I like the color, but the car shadow in the middle of the neon glow seems off.

for my tuppence worth, i think the idea of having the neon lights on cars is to make them standout in poor or lowlight conditions, the poser effect, if you pardon the pun, maybe reducing the rest of the light intensities in the scene might give more definition

Thanks for everyone's input.
It's the lights from the garage where they're working on the cars -- that's what the bright light is in the back. Actually --- I'll post a better preview --- see what happens from there.....
This is the complete scene --- the red Vette on the side I'm getting rid of, just don'e like the rear flares on it, found a better solution . But this shows the entire scene in a nut shell...... ;-)

It is interesting Miss Nancy ---
I have the real ones on my car and it is a head turner....I really enjoy them, but have to get them fixed.....
I'll post more when this scenes worked on later......hope everyone does like what I'm doing with it.....

Are any of the neon lights set to cast a shadow?

Miss Nancy -- you can get the effect from Fiat Lux Lights. I'm using their volumetric shaders. Steve, seems like some threads run their course even after I reply. This one's still going strong, so so be it.

I am wondering if the neon lights themselves are causing the shadow under the car. That may be what I am seeing in the picture.

I have a 98 Mitz 3000 GTVR-twin turbo, all wheel drive, low mileage, cav-back exhaust, chipped, k&n intake, msd ignition (400hp), white on black, 4 sale if you are looking for a nice car to replace the vette.
I have that garage and I really like what you have done with the lights and the woking late at night scene. Have to revist it again myself, as what you have done gives me a concept idea for an upcoming project.

I wonder if the lights can be doing that too --- Possibility.
Thanks grichter --- glad you like the idea! . Going to be populating it as a hangout, workspace, and all the above. Rival racers hang out as well.....

Well,
After trying to follow the suggestions on my other thread...
Here's what I came up with so far.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get it really well? From what I remember on my own car, this is similar to it. Granted, its a different model vehicle, but still does the same trick.
The set is 3DC's Tuning Garage if anyone's interested.....dirtied up a bit in Filter Forge
Please note also that this is without VOLUMETRIC lighting turned on. I'll turn that on on the final render with people, etc.
