Hello guys;

I was wondering...which light set is the best for Poser to get nice realistic renders?...

i need expert advice on the best Poser lights that are available on the market today.

Just some advice on excellent Poser lights.

thanks for viewing.

You really need to say which version of Poser you are using because different versions have different lighting possibilities.

Sheedee ( ) posted Fri, 09 March 2012 at 4:53 AM

I am using PoserPro 2012

ashley9803 ( ) posted Fri, 09 March 2012 at 5:00 AM

In that case this one is good.

For PP2012?
Always render with IDL and Gamma correction ON

NEVER use any AO and avoid IBL like the flue.

For lights?
The BB free sphere that can be downloaded from his site and ONE infinite light at 50%

I read on the product page of IDL STUDIO that it only works in Poser 8 and

and Poser Pro 2010.  (i have Poser Pro 2012...so it wont work?)

 Is this true?...

Quote -  avoid IBL like the flue.

Not true - why does this keep getting repeated?

IDL + IBL is just as good as IDL + EnvSphere. The difference is you cannot see the IBL with the camera, just its effect. Its effect is the same.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Once I had PoserPro 2010 I stopped using and buying premade light sets - I actually binned most of the ones I already had once I realised that they were useless with IDL and Gamma Correction.

My advice would be to learn how to light.

Windows 10 x64 Pro - Intel Xeon E5450 @ 3.00GHz (x2)

PoserPro 11 - Units: Metres

Adobe CC 2017

@ cspear

THAT is the best advice one can give.
LEARN how to make light.

Personally? For light?
I have one one tutor. Two actually.

My own Mark2 eyeballs.

Think Light,
Be light,
Look around and think-think-think..... That particular corner is in the shadow and i still see it? So where is the light coming from that allows me to still see it?

And NO, I have never seen an image on the sun.
Sorry guys, pretty strong personal opinion here and I am sticking to it.

Ha-ha-ha- and lots of test "area renders".....

I think what vilters may be trying to say is use lighting as if you were in the real world, because with IDL it works more like real world lighting now ;). Tricks for portrait lighting for photo studios and what not applies to Poser if you want to look at how photographers do it. There's a lot of sources for that on the web.

Correct Laurie : Fake will never beat "real".

It seems to work with Poser2012 (no first hand experience, though), see link.

I think at the time of realease there was no P2012. They just haven't updated the info. There is no reason why it wouldn't work, and probably much quicker.

If it was written for Poser versions before 9, there's every reason it might not work. PP12/P9's implementation of Python is different than previous versions.

There are no Pythons associated with running IDL Studio.

IDL studio works fine in PP2012.

In addition Shaderworks Advanced IDL Studio has been updated to PP2012 and also works fine.
