the mesh is not really high rez so it's not  the greatist morph but it looks closer to the egg from the films then before.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Thu, 15 March 2012 at 10:17 AM · edited Thu, 15 March 2012 at 10:19 AM

ok how do i post this to free stuff as a morph do i have to make it an injection?

if injection how do i do that?

its an object file with mesh created morphs from the original file since the original file was created by another member how do post a custom morph?

JAFO ( ) posted Thu, 15 March 2012 at 10:29 AM · edited Thu, 15 March 2012 at 10:40 AM

JAFO likes it... :O)   i havent been able to find the original files for the egg... could you post a link where i can download it?... feel free to update as much as you want ... i posted the original egg in freestuff here at 'Rosity back in 2000 as a free gift to the community...it was a low poly world at the time ,  disc space was more of a premium and downloads were slower, i could have done better had there not been that limitation ...feel free to post yours as a new item  if you want , no need to make an injection, a brief mention of how you arrived at it would be nice, but not critical...yours looks great, glad to see theres still interrest...

:O)

Y'all have a great day.

Gareee ( ) posted Thu, 15 March 2012 at 10:56 AM

Since an egg is just basically a sphere, why not just use a dynamesh sphere, and just make your own object? You can use uvmaster to uv map it as well.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

i thought the same thing when i began making the 'egg' cant be that hard, but i found i was mistaken... it had to have thickness and had to morph smoothly without folding in on itself...wasnt simply 'an open and closed case'... lol ... i had to find a solution to progressive morphs before ERC was even dreamed of , though not impressive by todays standards im still proud of my acheivement , and even prouder that i would take the time and patience to develope it as a free item expecting nothing in return, but its a different world now, there are far fewer willing to hash things out without it being profitable, for those who do i am forever greatfull and commend them for their efforts...

are you using displacement maps  or bump maps? the original only had a texture...would be interesting to use your displacement / bump with the original texture...it was derrived from a pretty good screen grab from the original Aliens movie though i had to do some majik on it to make it higher rez, displacement was unheard of in 2000...at least to me and the tools i was using...you do nice work...

Hello Tucan-Tiki, This is in regards to your newest upload in the Freestuff area - "Jafo's XenoMorph Egg." The file format is not in .zip format as required. The requirements for all items uploaded to the freestuff are listed at the top of the upload page. Since you do not have access to the files in pending, you will have to reupload the item in the correct .zip format. At that time I will approve your item and delete the older one. Please note that it could take 24-48 hours to get your item approved once I've heard from you. If I have not heard from you within seven days I will go ahead and delete the item from our Pending queue. Thanks, Brynna, Freestuff Coordinator

um what was wrong with rar file format almost everyone is useing it now, and you have to pay for winzip and why not help me out by con verting it to a zip file rather then send me you did it in the wrong format e mail?

im sure the file is still downloadable and still can be opened by members who want the files, so why put me through all this extra steps just to upload an item that is clearly compressed.

because i forgot where i put the files on my pc and a search has not turned up anything, I now have to go look for all the files in poser again and extract  them all over again,  because someone is being a nitpick about what file compression program I am using?

I agree the site states zip format however winrar can be considered a zip format since it can be opened by 7-Zip as well as winzip files if you really want to get picky.

i would suggest adding 7-zip and winrar formats to your sight restrictions where have you been? winrar and 7-zip are almost an industry standard now your still stuck in  the 1980's

livid!

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 3:43 PM · edited Sun, 18 March 2012 at 3:56 PM

expect a delay i have downloaded winzip after having my arm twisted off, but since I can not find the rar file I originally packed everything in I have to go on an easter egg hunt because of someones pickyness and someone being a rule monger rather then just helping me by converting the file herself just to be helpful and nice, rather then being a stiff about

it took her longer to type that responce to me, then it would have taken her to convert the files to zip format, must be nice to sit on your bum and get paid by renderosity to do nothing to offer community support.

If I were in her place I would have converted the file and sent another message stating....I have converted your file to zip format this time only, please be advised that all uploads must be in zip format or they will be dismissed.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 4:02 PM

sorry for the rant but I think rar format was a compressed file format that is exceptable by the community and much of the community does use rar file format at sites like sharecg, refusing a file just because I did not have winzip is a bit silly since rar files can opened by many kinds of decompression softwares and it's supported by the latest winzip program itself.

hborre ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 4:40 PM

If you are using Winrar, you can convert the files into zip format without d/ling Winzip.

moriador ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 6:37 PM · edited Sun, 18 March 2012 at 6:38 PM

I don't like RAR files because I have to actually go through the process of extracting them with some sort of application. I can't even view the files without extracting them. It's PITA.

ZIP files I can just click on to open and drag the sub files to my runtime. No need to uncompress or anything. I can view what's inside with a single click. No extraction needed.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 6:59 PM · edited Sun, 18 March 2012 at 7:02 PM

well the site here says the files should be in zip format it does not say it has to be in zip format, the word should implys preferred but does not give the absolute impression of restricted use of other formats.

I agree zip is easy to open now that I have it, I have reuploaded the files in zip format there is no order to the files so your going to have to pick through them and place them where they need to go, of course prop files can go anywhere you want in the props folder, the textures you can just drop them in your runtime textures folder poser seems to find them if they are sitting outside of a folder anyway in runti,e textures but can't find its own back side looking for textures anywhere else..

if this goes south, ill just post them over at share cg to ovoid any further drama.

Dieing to see what the space jokey looks like in the new premethius film when it comes out, wonder what the aliens will look like when the space jokey finishes turning the crew of of the premethious into alien eggs......

oh yeah that dog alien was accomplished with the use of femasu.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 7:44 PM

from the preview looks like space jokey awakens, infects crew with nano virus that changes them into eggs from is lab pods, where later in the next film will be filled with eggs, looks like android goes berserk and attacks the crew probably reprogrammed by the space jokey as well, the giant face on the alien ship appears to imply the space jokey had orginal plans for mankind and the bio mechanical being that the space jokey is possibly indicates it is on a quest to convert other life to be like itself or it's a intellegent machine sent out by a race to seek out other life and destroy it.

as man made radio signals press on further into space who knows what might detect them and what it might send here.

well it's been posted again in zip format so according to her message it could be up to 48 hours, been playing around with the alien textures alot, trying to get the kind of realism you see on the big screen, of course poser can't do that, but with enough tricks you can obtain something close to it, if you know a few things about how things are intentionally blurred on the big screen, but the mootion is where your eye see's the detail, bluring the background also the further your eye sees, matching texture saturation of figures to the saturation of the scenes colors that sort of stuff.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 10:11 PM

file_479681.jpg

I did the same thing here with spider man, i reduced the saturation of his coloring to match the city lighting and color levels of the the buildings and scene coloring, i blurred him out knowing this was going to reduce the detail level but when someone is swinging pass you like this you wont see alot of detail anyway, so even though he's closer to the camera the blur still gives it realism and places him in the scene where he does not look superimposed.

moriador ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 10:11 PM

Quote - But you can do the exact same thing with WinRAR.

When I click on a RAR file, I get a dialog box that says "windows can't open this file" and I am prompted to locate a program that will open the file.  I have to use 7-zip or something similar to extract the files to another folder.

When I click on a ZIP file, it just opens in Windows Explorer.

For me, something that opens in Explorer without the need of an additional step is easier.

hborre ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 10:37 PM

@ moriador: You need to install WinRAR first and have it as your default.  Winzip is built into Windows, that is why you get a browser window opening.  WinRAR does have better compression and can handle larger files far better than WinZIP.  But to each his own.

tinkering around with an idea for a fan comic, Riply 8 is part alien, so long as she is around her blood could be usded to make more aliens, bishop would be the leader of the underground android resistance who sent call to kill riply but they had already taken it out of her, but bishop wanted the alien in alien 3 so when he finds out riply is alive he may have other plans, he is also fighting to keep the 4th gen androids from being scrapped since they fled the recall, the alien itself may offer a weapon against humans he could use if he decides on a path of genecide.

Riply may end up going with the predators along with her companion call at some point to save humanity from herself and since she is part alien she is considered sacred by them.

along with the help of a predator riply, jonner and call defeat the Bishop Weyland android and his android partner ash, and prevent the military from getting thier hands on anymore dna from riplys blood but of course the aliens get loose and defeated with the predators help.

Being a HUGE 'Alien' fan, I have to say thank you!  Both the original and the modified are MOST exellent.   Thank you both!  With "Prometheus" on the way, this will be sure to inspire a lot of kick-butt renders!

Now if only we had the Space Jockey and the chair/room...  Hint hint!  ;)

Redfern ( ) posted Thu, 22 March 2012 at 2:23 PM

The Space Jockey IS available as a Poser based prop.  Sean Kennedy modeled one in LightWave and granted permission to have it converted to a .PP2 prop file.

I think it's at Planet3D, but as I am work, I can't verify.

Redfern ( ) posted Thu, 22 March 2012 at 2:40 PM

Swilden's .CR2 based figure at ShareCG is about as close to the original 1979 design as we have at the moment.  He did give the xenomorph longer fingers and he extruded the pelvic bone a bit to make it more gangley looking, but it has the plantigrade stance and that protruding "bone"sandwiched between the upper two "back tubes" (an element dropped in "Aliens").
