Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 4:22 pm)
<DISCLAIMER: IANAA (I am not an animator)> I don't think I've ever seen much if anything erotic other than what's at 'Rotica. If it's out there, it's probably not in Poser format. For general animations, I seem to recall that someone had converted at least some the Carnegie-Mellon University BVH animations to a make them more Poser friendly. None of them are going to be longer than a some few seconds I wouldn't think. Have you looked at Mixamo - haven't used it but I think some have used it with Poser/DAZ Studio. http://www.mixamo.com/
I'd bet that the animation gurus are going to tell you that if you want to make movies, start learning to make your own and don't mess with canned clips, other than maybe for study. That's probably good advice.
"Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H. L. Mencken
There are very, very few erotic animation sets out, for a few reasons:
Difficulty in creation. Everything that -I- am aware of is manually keyframed. Depending on the act, this could take weeks to months for a few hundred unique frames. Sex -looks- repetetive, but when you slow down and actually analyze it, there is a great deal of motion other than reciprocal. Shifts to the side for comfort or adjusting to hit 'that spot', alteration of bracing due to muscle tiring or avoiding over straining your back, etc.
Mocap is problematic; you get two bodies in very close proximity, or in full contact, and you get marker occlusion, and your capture program loses track of where they are and you get garbage. And that assumes you have the ability to put reflector spots on bare skin. In a mocap suit you will get tracking balls catching on each other and moving, which trashes the capture data. Anything involving the fingers and toes you will have to keyframe, as no capture system is able to record their motions.
You always have softbody collision issues to deal with. Step through a porn video frame by frame, and watch how breasts, buttocks, thighs, arms, and bellies deform and alter shape. Sometimes far beyond what you imagine they are doing. You also have pendulum issues; breasts on women and non-erect genitalia on men, if they aren't constrained or held, are subject to gravity and motion impact (if you can, find a vid with a woman with large enough -natural- breasts to where when they hang in doggy postion, they actually hang free of the ribcage. Try and analyze the arcs of swing and mass shift. The numbers will make you hurt even if you're a male.....)
The unique issues in the Poserverse. There are solutions and work arounds for all of the above (most involving lots of work and fiddling), but that will only apply correctly to the one figure you were working on. Other figures will have different proportions, which will either throw the data off or simply make it invalid.
Actually, in my experience, the canned animations are a good place to start learning. Taking two disparate clips, setting up the interval needed to blend them, and working out the interpolation vs. manual keyframe work is tedious, but also a fundamental skill you need to aquire. You can learn about timing, spline manipulation, and so on. Plus if you intend to try and create a multi-hundred to several thousand frame animation, you need either mocap or all the help you can get.
There really is no 'click and render' solution in animation. Canned bvh's are recognizable if overused (and some you spot instantly, because they have been used everywhere). Mocap is costly, and even then you have to clean up your capture and keyframe all the bodyparts that can't be captured (I mean technically you -could- put capture dots on the penis end and breast tips, to get a data point for your work...if you can find people who will =let= you glue them there in the first place, and do whatever in a capture field....but it would still be up to you to modify the rig so there was a 'bone' present for that data point to affect :P ). You will also need to learn the fundamentals of how movies are made; doing rough storyboards lets you work out your scene flow so you can animate -only- sequences you need. It is a lot of work, but when you see a mesh become a character, and it was your doing.......
I split up my animations into body parts. Just starting to build up a data base. But anyways. I would just suggest doing body trunk for a few hundred frames. It does not take to long. To add ARms and such if they are in another animation. Just gotoo the end and put there copy and paste or highlight and move. Thinking of putting out a kit with a bunch of basic body languagestuff. Would people be interested you think?

Probably on the other Rendo site. I don't know about here...
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Since when is basic body language porn and thus "only people from Renderotica will want that"?
there is some thing I heard about where you can pose around in front of your xbo TV and convert it into poser animations.

I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
hehe, now you know that is just V4 in my avatar don't you?

Okay, tell me when it is ready.

Just keep in mind that the Kinnect setup for the 360 is an interface toy for a gaming console. So long as you face the thing, you can get some useable capture data out. Note the word 'some'. The capture system you're talking about esther requires 2 of the Kinnect cameras, is limited to one body capture, and takes a bit of beef on your computer, as there is a -lot- of math blending and error correcting...hopefully...going on.
Oh. well one body would be better as I don't know JAFO very well as yet.

The Software is called "IPI Desktop Motion Capture." It is now sold here on renderosity.
This is the link: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/search.php?adv_search=&criteria=Ipi&dept=&type=B
If you can, make your own bvh animations. There are also tutorials on youtube (on how to use it). After this, Maximo is the second best online for already boxed or "canned" bvh files for Poser.
Some of my work:

the bvh motion files from cmu are all at sharecg, there is a link to them from cmu's entry in free stuff here, there are around 4000 and there is a text file in each zip download that tells you what is in each archive, dunno how much of it is adult orientated probbly not much tbh if was created as part of some university project........

One of the renderotica vendors had a 3000 frame animation. Most of them are shorter and aimed at the hobbiest who does not want to spend weeks rendering out a clip.
stimuli used to do contract work.
you may find some on maleposerotica if the site is still up.
I used to advise people to hire actors for shoots, its cheaper and easier and looks more real. ;)

Helllo again everyone, well lets face it I only post in a forum when I need advice or help on finding something that I have struggled with obtaining. So here it goes..You know how Poser doesnt' too much have animations that we can use for making movies with? Well even though there are a few good ones on Daz from Mocap and Animate. I would like to see more animations that will extend over more than just a few short second frames. Now I know how animating is hard and time consuming, but my other question is..
Does anybody know where I can get adult themed animations? I've been to Renderotica plenty of times and even picked up a few of their animations but I'm looking for a lot more to fill up my runtime with so does anybody know of any good sites I can go to for animations? They don't have to just be sexual animations just animations in general even though I currently prefer the adult ones for what I intend to use them for. After all, Sircus deserves a little competition from me. Animations that let you mix things up and match them like the ones that Stimili does on Renderotica are cool to say the least. But most of the stuff on there is too short....Like Gif short and they also repeat the same animation. So as you can see I do have a high demand for quality animations that will work for poser 7 and beyond. Thanks for looking out again. Much love and respect to all you artists out there.
Johnny~
