Subject: Wish List for Carrara 2

As I use Carrara more, I am making a list of what I'd love to see the next iteration of Carrara be capable of doing. How about all you other Carrara users? What's on your lists? Here's my List: - More sophisticated environment controller (Wind editor) - Improved ability to handle imported Illustrator outlines. (Offset path controls) - Intuitive method of beveling Illustrator outlines. (Just like what you can now do with the type tool and with the inclusion of a bevel profile editor.) I find the lack of this capability to be a glaring omission! - A optional Nano Preview, similar to Bryce's in the Assembly room would be nice. Eovia, I hope you're listening. Let's make a great app closer to perfect.

I am using the demo, but I have come accross three things that I would like to change. 1- When I resize a tool window and then close it by double clicking, when I reopen it it is nolonger resised. 2- I would like to be able to select multiple objects by either draging or shift click- I did find I could shift click in the bottom tool try. 3- seems more of a bug, I selected two object with shiftclick in the bottom tray, edit->group->An unown error...Same two object->select all-> group-> works. I was also sad to find out that my free amapi doesnot qualify for the side grade... not suprised at all.

First let me say that I'm still using RDS, so these improvements may have already been made in Carrara. If so, you may pat me on the head and send me away. But... I think the vertex modeler would be MUCH easier to use if there was a fly-out menu of vertex selection tools including a square/rectangle, a circle/oval, and a freehand "paintbrush" with adjustable diameter. Currently, if I want to select vertices which form an irregular shape, I must pick them one by one - very tedious and time consuming. There's my opinon. Who's next? Jim Z. a.k.a. Julian Boolean

Just one: the ability to assign textures to individual polygons or groups of polygons.

Still very new to Carrara, but the zoom function seems awkward. I use a cad program that zooms with the +/- keys and it zooms in on wherever the cursor is placed at the time. It is like a zoom/pan in one keystroke and is very useful efficient. Yes, the zoom window is similar, but still not as efficient and i cant find the way to zoom out as quickly then instantly change the view and be zoomed back in in 2 strokes! Wonder if this is any help?

I wish I could apply filters/plugins to only a specific set of objects and not to everything in the scene (i.e., if you turn on aura, it affects all of the lights and I'd like it to affect just some).

General improvement in navigation, zooming, selections would be great. Creature House's Expression 2 has a very clever way to zoom in/out : the mouse wheel (test it). They also have an intersesting way to enter numbers. A function to create homogeneous and random dispersion of objects would also be great (for example, to evenly disperse a group of 46 chromosomes in a cell) may be usefull. For the animation, I suggest this : I often do a mistake by forgeting to go back at the first (or a specific) frame before changing an object, thus inadvertidly creating a new keyframe at a wrong place. Thus, it would be good if there could be some kind of a switch that, when on, would reverse to a specific frame each time a modification is done to something.
