Attached Link: Secrets Book on eBay

i apologize if this isn't supposed to be posted here; i didn't see anything against it in the TOS.  do delete it, if it is a problem.

i just wanted to let folks know, i had a carton of the "Secrets of Figure Creation with Poser 5" sitting around, and i finally got around to posting them for sale.  um, yes, i DO have procrastination issues.  (no, wait... i was waiting until the post office offered me envelopes and shipping right at my house... that's it!)

they're brand new (minus sitting around 9 years), first run editions, come WITH the CD it's supposed to come with, plus i'm throwing in a Dragon Factory CD and autograph doodle at no extra charge.  oh, and they're fairly cheap.

16 on ebay now; once they're gone, that's it.

Enjoy!

I am certain the moderators will make an exception for the author of "Secrets of Figure Creation with Poser 5", if not I will be disappointed.

If they don't I will be one more step on my way to be misanthropist. Without this book the whole Renderosity site would not exist.

Most of whats in your book is stull relevant today.  I could never have created my draconian figure without your wing rigging information.

If rendo pulls this thread, it'll be a big black eye on them.

BTW, how about doing an update and releasing a sequel/updated book? There's plenty of new information available to cover.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

why would you want to do that? Half the fun of using Poser is "I wonder what happens if I push this button, change that shader and turn this dial all at the same time, then export, import, add 3 dozen magnets and 7 lights, save as a cr2, hack the cr2, relaod  and then render over an upside down back ground image while caring for and feeding your cat!" :thumbupboth:

Well, I've read part of it, but not anything pertinent to the kind of things I do...lol. One of these days I'm gonna whip up a quick lo res figure, grab the book and learn how to rig it the old fashioned way ;). Unfortunately, there's only 24 hours in the day and I need somewhere on the order of 50..lol.

I have this book too. Like Laurie I haven't read it all yet but would love to see it updated. 😄

I have this book.  I tried reading it but I was still very new to Poser and was so overwhelmed with learning the bare basics, that I set it aside with intentions of reading it when I had more Poser experience.  I should take a look at it again.

FYI - The Terms of Service no longer forbids commercial posts in the forums. Deal with it.

KimberlyC ( ) posted Thu, 12 April 2012 at 12:25 AM

Steve - we dont mind when posting links for reference or when someone asks "have you seen" but "advertising" etc is not allowed. I'm sure that's what you meant, I wanted to clear that up.

This post is ok because it's regarding a "poser" resource.

I have it right here on my desk and still use it, weekly if not more often, to look up something or other. If you haven;t read it (at least enough to know where thigs are for reference, do so, it's one of the best tutorials on content creation for poser!

Bloodsong, I know how much work it is but I would like add that I REALLY, REALLY wish you would concider updating it for the new features in Poser Pro 2012!! Even as an ebook for sale it would be well worth it.

Own it and it is good.

26F:
i did double-check the TOS before posting, and steve is correct.  there's nothing in there against 'commercial' posting.
thanks for the clarification, Kimberly.  it IS commercial (i need the bucks), but i also hope it is a valuable resource for folks who've been looking for it.

vintorix:
technically, it's the other way around.  without renderosity (and it's prehistoric progenitors), the book wouldn't exist.  ;)

i really can't do any updates to the book, i haven't been using poser since i left :/  i'm a total noob now.  maybe in a couple of years i'll catch up again!

bloodsong, (or should I say B L Render?) BTW what do B.L. stand for?

So how many members did Renderosity have when the book was released? 500? 5000? Todag there are half a million members and 250 new every day. I have tried to learn enough to become a content provider for a while, and I am almost there. So I can speak from own experience when I say that there is no way around having the book. Even if I was exaggerating a little basically I was right. The site depends of the content providers without there would be no income..

Who are going to write the sequel?

oh well.

no help for the weightmap challenged

the Secrets book taught me how put a texture map on dynamic fur.  and the option to force a texture onto a bodypart that's part of material zone multi body part combo.

i'm still confused on the handles for stuff like Mike's beard

Let me add my 2 yen to say we've got two copies of this book, both seen much use over the years. If you want to make characters for Poser its extremely valuable.
