Subject: keyboard shortcuts to switch selected figures/props/body parts?

grosporina ( ) posted Tue, 17 April 2012 at 10:01 PM · edited Fri, 07 February 2025 at 3:39 AM

I can't beleive I've been using Poser for 13 years now and it never occurred to me to try to find this out.  Is there any way using the keyboard to switch selected props, figures, or body parts of figures?  If I have a particularly complex scene it can have several dozen props and waiting for the pull-down list to slowly scroll to the bottom for the prop I want to control when for whatever reason I can't simply click-select it in the scene is driving me nuts. (well, I think some who know me would argue I'm already there, let's say more nuts)

I've bought 4 versions of Poser now (yeah, skipped a few but started with 4) and not once have I got the mystical "quick reference" card referred to in the manuals that come with them but I found a copy of the P7 QRC online and see nothing on it of the sort I'm seeking.

TIA

u can use your keyboard up/down arrow keys (& the number keys) to scroll thru the items in the viewport, but it doesn't exclude lights, so u'll have to scroll thru the lights to get to the desired item...other than that, i dunno

You can use the hierarchy editor (shift-ctrl-E) to select any object.

It also has checkbox to limit display to props only

Ugh, feel kinda stupid for never just trying that now (the arrow keys).

Thanks, to both of you.  Now I can reclaim some of my higher brain functions.

right mouse clicking on a selection will bring up a menu, second from the top theres a 'selection' tab listing parts near where you clicked,  and you can select item  you are after from menu.... eg: you are trying to select rtHand but rtForearm keeps getting selected instead... right mouse click and use menu to select rtHand...

Y'all have a great day.

Ah, it keeps getting better, thanks.  I wonder how much more of the basic UI I've been oblivious to for all these years :P
