I can do that. I am getting used to having to change the stupid protocols in Win 7 to allow me access to delete and modify some really basic things. One hint, 9 times out of 10 if you check the "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" it allows you to go forward. So I can see if this helps. I forgot all about that myself (*hard to believe since it seems to constantly be the solution!).
ThanX Richard!

pk// UAC is User Account Control.. it sets what has permissions to alter and generally mess about with files on your system.. as well.. it sets admistrator permissions. disabling it is an option, though not very good.. main thing.. does ANYONE else have access to your computer? also, are you comfident of the Virus/malware protection you have?... if so, then, yeah you COULD.. but.. you can also set the UAC to give admin premission to your acccoubt AND "daughter" processes... geekspeak for.. "If you run a program, it "inherits" permission to alter files without asking"
Myself, I am using that option as, no-one else has access. also... if you are running CS2 on a 7 system, you should set compatibility for XP... right-click the iccon and go to properties.. you will see it as a tab, then opyions will show up when you click set compatibility. Myself.. I have found that there have been more than a few plugins and brushes that won't run in CS5.. VERY annoying. Lou.

Hi Lou!
Yes I am the only one on my computer. My husband now has my old one and he is not allowed (*LOL!) on the new one.
I have CS2 set up for compatability with XP SP2. But it did not help.
Could you send me details on the exact process to get from point A to point X, in setting up the UAC protocol? I can understand that not everyone should do this as it can be a big mistake to mess with something you don't know (*I am NO EXPERT!) but I am also not afraid to screw up and re-install if needed. I swear Win 7 Pro and it's incessent handholding is driving me nuts! I mean I was in XP Pro for 9 years and never had this many stupid issues! :P I actually called Microsoft and they asked me if I would like a refund, I almost said yes and would go back to XP... unfortunately that is 32 bit and I need 64 for the processor and Motherboard, as well as CS5, Vue and soon Z-Brush.
So if you could site mail me i can forward my e-mail, or you could post it in there.
Thank you so much!
Ariana

Hi.. I sent a site mail.. but, since you list your site, took a chance and sent it to your contact address on there. it's a PSD file for CS 5.. that will make it easily read.. there is a note at the bottom... hope you don't take offence but.. I did that one, myself, lol. hope this gets you going again. Lou.

OK, feel safer now!
I will take a look and work on this most likely Friday as I have several things I need to finish and so I am going to unistall CS5 to let CS2 work. Then after I finish them I can try this out.
Thank you very much!!!

Hi I am now in Win 7 Pro. I now have CS5 (*had to return the first one because it did not work on the old system).
The problem is I have lots of plugins both free and purchased for PS7 and CS2. Many are not being recognized by CS5! So I installed CS2 as admin, and set as compatable with XP SP2. Everytime I try to try to open it, it freezes on '...checking preferences'.
I thought CS5 was supposed to be backwards compatable with my plugins, I have almost $2,000.00 tied up in higher end plugins that do not offer free upgrades! So I need CS2 to use a lot of these. Has anyone found a solution>? I went to Adobe and found this thread >>> http://forums.adobe.com/message/2704562 this was a solution mentioned, but I have no idea how to do this> "Disable UAC under Windows 7 and you'll be able to install and run Photoshop CS2 just fine. UAC causes compatibility problems with older software, that's to be expected." and I have also called and spoke to a Level 2 tech. No resolution!
Does someone hear have an answer for me? I am beyond upset over this issue. I do not like Win 7 Pro at all, it deletes files, makes life so darn difficult. But i need to do my work. So could anyone give me some solutions? Thank you in advance.
Ariana
