have you installed anything recently could try a restore if this just started recently, could even be a virus or spyware are you using any utilites like norton systm works or spy doctor to make sure your system is clean. if you reinstalled and it worked then something is interfereing with the driver. maybe an address problem if you added a device recently. looke in your device manager and see if you have any yellow flags click preference on the device adn reinstall them.but this won't fix the cause of the problem only tempory fix the problem.

Hi Radar_Fox,
I had this software installed.
It was slowing down my startup so I uninstalled it yesterday.
It used to tell me all of my drivers were fine.
I just reinstalled it and it tells me 27 drivers are 'ancient" a nd need to be re-installed.
I hope if I re-install them it will work ok.
Grrrrhhh! Sometimes system things are way over my head.

ah yes that is supplied with some programs like divx adn others I always uncheck those boxes I've had nothing but problems with similar problems in the past so refuse to install anything from a second source liike Divx or other programs. sometimes there impossible to uninstall you have to go to the thier site and walk through a 30 minute procedure. I don't know how good it is I usually stick to programs suggested by cnet and other online tech sites. it wouldn't surpise me if that isn't the cause sometimes these programs will delete good needed programs I had one shareware program that wanted to delete several system files would't surprise me it wasn't a poor mans virus in disquise. I use norton system works haven't had any problems so far. I don't have a driver checker like this program but figured it's not a critical program usually your OS will tell you when something is out of date and need to be renewed. and the manufacures usually put in update software to check on their programs too.

Hi Radar_Foxbat,
Now, I am in a bit of a pickle.
My system will not even run with the keypoard plugged in. It just freezes.
The mouse runs, then stops, then runs.
I am not anxious to purchase theri driver software for $29.00 just to fix a problem that they caused.
I feel totally over my head on this.

lets try something simple.
switch the PC off. disconnect all but the keyboard and mouse.
then do the following
run in safe mode for about 1/2 hour. see if you get the same symptoms. lets see if it's something you have loading into the main startup. if it carries on, then I to would look at the hardware, either mobo trouble or check the fans to make sure your not over heating.
Hi Khai-J-Bach,
I went for a walk to clear my head and just got back.
I followed your instructions.
It is running in Safe Mode now for 5 minutes.
The mose is still freezing intermittantly.
When the mouse is not frozen the keyboard seems to be working.
I will let it run for 1/2 hour.
It is now 4:29 my time.
I really appreciate your help and everyone else's.

Just a thought; do you have another mouse you could try? Perhaps there is an intermittent short in the mouse...

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."It's sounding as if this is probably a hardware issue, rather than a software issue. But for those interested, I'd like to share this tip that has solved a lot of software issues for me over the years. I use ERUNT to backup the registry from time to time. I have made a Bart PE boot CD, and included antivirus software on it. The Bart PE CD, lets me boot to a clean Windows XP from the CD. I can use it to restore the ERUNT registry backup, which I find solves most problems where the PC has stopped working correctly because of software problems. I can also use it to do a virus scan of the HDD, even if the native Windows won't boot. Also booting to Bart PE can give you an indication of whether your problem is hardware or software related, if the hardware works under Bart PE, then the problem is most likely with your software, this is not 100% proof, your hardware may be under more stress when booted from the HDD, or it may not work under PE for lack odf drivers, but it is some indication.

I am going to assume your mouse. keyboard and tablet are plugged in to USB ports. If the ports are all on the front of the case see if there is a port on the back and try plugging the mouse in to that. Ports on the back usually come directly off the motherboard where as front ports are often connected with a patch cable to the motherboard.
Ok download the desktop software link
Then restart the computer in safe mode and run ComboFix follow the instructions on the screen after reboot in normal mode

This is a software that cleans your PC from spyware and adware viruses, this is updated each week to this need to download from the Internet each time you need.
I work as a computer technician at Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome.
I use it every day and just follow the simple instructions in the DOS window, I suggest you run it in safe mode because you do not like the action of virus you have installed on your PC.
The use of this software solves 99% of the problems of a PC with Windows OS.
sorry for my bad english

Hi,
My thanks to everyone who gave me advice on my computer problem.
It is no longer in the land of the living.
It ended up frying almost every component in itself.
Hard drive, CPU, motherboard, cd roms. Need I say more?
I did get almost all of the files off before it bit the biscuit.
It's soul has moved into a beautiful quad core that is gorgeous so all is well with a working wacom.
Thanks again for everyone's help. i appreciate all of the advice and links. I learned a lot from all you.

Hi,
I am having a problem with my computer.
Windows pro 64 bit
It keeps freezing.
It does not recognize the keyboard.
The mouse works for a few minutes then freezes for a few minutes then works.
It no longer recognizes the wacom.
I have tried other mice and keypoards but to no avail.
I would be grateful for any advice on what this problem might be.
