Hi, all Mike Robe's ready, and I threw in a couple of jackets, I made while limbering up for the robe. CR2'ing a robe is MURDER 8-( The jackets are a sort of heavy winter-type jacket, and a leather one - sleeves can be set to invisible for a sleeveless jacket type for the "toughs" ;-) Anyway, I'm working out the hosting, but as soon as the items are up, they'll be free-for-all, and copyright-free. Except for selling, of course, but anything made by modifying or adding to the items becomes the copyright of the creator. Unfortunately, I have little talent for making tex's, so I'm hoping to catch the interest of some of the many tex-talented members by this preview. I'll post info on where to get the item's as soon as it's worked out. Any questions and suggestions are welcome - soon as my mouse finger stops hurting ;-)

it looks very very good - thanks - I would die to have it.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 2:44 PM

That looks better then all the robes Iv seen done for Mike and P4 man, And I love the Jacket too. I was just wondering when anyone would ever do some winter clothes, Most of what I see is summer because it's summer all year long in poser 4.

atthisstage ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 2:55 PM

Nicely done. Is it possible to get a texture template for the robe (he asks without wanting to seem like he's being too greedy...)?

leather-guy ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 3:06 PM

Wonderful work! Even without fancy textures they look incredible! The robe, especially looks like it will work for many projects. Any chance of a hooded variation later? (Said the greedy one, sneakily) ;) You have a Wonderful talent!

Poppi ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 3:19 PM

Wow...most excellent.

bloodsong ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 3:32 PM

wohooooo!!! hurry hurry, i cant wait to try them! (oh, wait... i have NO idea what kind of image to do with them yet.... :/ argh!) er, but i'm excited anyway. :)

leather-guy ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 3:37 PM

The robe would be great for a monk/acolyte/wizard char in a fantasy render. Reminds me of the robe worn by the Lurch-looking android (I think it was Ted Cassidy played the android & Lurch, too, as I recall) in one episode of the original Star Trek. The possibilities, the possibilities . . . :)

lalverson ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 4:04 PM

Oh heck yes I could work with these!!!

They look awesome! I love the up collar on the jackets too.

DgerzeeBoy ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 5:14 PM

These clothes are fabulous. Sometimes it's ludicrous to see the junk that some folks here create and want to sell. Your generosity is amazing. Thanks...

movida ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 7:25 PM

many, many thanks

Poppi ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 7:32 PM

Commenting twice, here. You have really gone the extra mile for this community. First in the Amapi forum...where your hard work helped so many of us find the joys of modelling. Now, this gift to the community at large. You impress me. I am so glad to know you. Pop...pop...pop!!!

shadowcat ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 10:10 PM

The robe is hosted and the jackets will follow most likely. I'll leave the announcing of the URL to Thip, he made it he gets the posting rights.

Darth_Wookie ( ) posted Sun, 02 September 2001 at 11:46 PM

oh man, cant wait for that to hit the freestuff!!!!! Especially the Jackets!

A big hand for Shadowcat, ladies and gentlemen. He's hosting both the Mike robe and the jackets. Mike robe is ready for d/l at http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/jacotheshadow/freestuff/mikelongrobe.zip Jackets are coming up, as cat says above. Thanx for the enthusiastic response, all. And sorry, no tex templates, I'm not very good at'em, and I know how important mapping is to trouble-free tex work. If anyone out there will have a go at "officially" mapping the robe and jackets (for a version to include with the d/l's), pls step forward, it will be most welcome. Next time I do a clothing item, I hope to find some assistance on that, in order to be able to provide an item with an "official" template.

thip ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 12:53 AM

Just realized I never done this before - how does one put things in freestuff, pointing to the above URL?

Staby ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 2:46 AM

Thank you thip! The robe looks great and I can't wait for the jackets too! I'm searching for references to texture the robe right now... Thank you again!

shadowcat ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 7:03 AM

Ok, I noticed the bit about no offical tex map, so I mapped it and re-loaded it. So if you already downloaded you might want to do it again to have the "official mapping". Jackets will be loaded later tonight when I get back from today's family outing.

kiru ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 11:17 AM

sorry i did not have time to beta feedack, but I liked it a lot. Like most Mikey items, the pectoral area is way bulky, and has a very puffy feel. Also, i would like it better if the trim was much thinner. It has an approximate 1 inch think (scale) trim, which is too big. ive been Playing with it, and it is great. If you want it hosted, you need a web site, and i could possibly host the robe for you

thip ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 12:33 PM

Thanx for the feedback, Kiru. As to the puffy pecs, I'll let Mike break your arm ;-) You're might be right about the trim, though. Fortunately, there's a relatively easy solution : the cuffs and trims (and the long strip of cloth) are separate materials, which can be set to invisible. It'll make the robe/sleeves a bit shorter, but then a bump map combined with a tex could give you a slimmer-looking trim.

thip ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 12:43 PM

Cat - you're a champ - and enjoy the family outing. Hope all the kids are playing with Poser dolls ;-)

kiru ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 12:58 PM

Wait, i had a stroke of genius! Make the long trim that goes around the neck and down to the feet A SEPERATE FIGURE! Then conform it to the robe, but you could magnet it a bit seperately to give the look that it is not sewn on. The cuff thing makes sense, and with the long trim gone, and a nice texture, you have a nice leather robe with Steel trim for a combat mage !

Daramski ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 2:21 PM

Cool, I'm just downloading, thanks again Thip and shadowcat for the hosting the file. Merlins going to love this one: ) Regards, Darren

shadowcat ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 5:30 PM

Robe and both jackets are uploaded and posted in free stuff now, I listed them under "Michael". And I think I finally mastered the thumbnails (usually they look hideous, but these look ok) and Thip, if you're looking for a new project, I can think of one think that is in sore need - a sleeper for that poor naked baby, nothing fancy needed. I tried once and I know now that I suck at making clothes.

leather-guy ( ) posted Mon, 03 September 2001 at 6:43 PM

I just found them in FreeStuff & Downloaded. They look to be a finer quality than many clothes I've paid for! Thank you, Thank you, thank you!

thip ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2001 at 1:29 AM

Cat - great news. We all owe you one, me especially. Be happy to have a go at a "sleeper", but english is not my first language, so I don't know what a sleeper is. Could someone explain, or better still, show a picture of one?

Best description is a loose fitting catsuit with attached socks.

shadowcat ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2001 at 10:04 AM

oh, picture shows one with short sleeves and buttons, I was thinking long sleeve and any extra suff (zippers, buttons, & bows) should be textured on.

thip ( ) posted Tue, 04 September 2001 at 10:23 AM

A "sparkedragt" (kicking-suit) as we call it in my country. I'll give it a try.
