i have worked with bryce for years and never had an issue animating, but now with win7 for some reason i cant animate- i am using the free vers. offer from daz. i have unintalled and reinstalled but to no avail.

any suggestions?

When you say Free Version do you Mean Bryce 7 Personal Learning edition or Do you mean Bryce 7.1 Pro? Because the Personal Learning Edition version does not let you animate(or so I have been told) if you delete Bryce 7 PLE assuming you use it then install either Bryce 7.1 Pro or use another version of Bryce. Back up your work and once you save a .br7 file it will not work in lower version of bryce. it will keep saying this message in an endless loop. An object is missing Continue loading without it. and it will not stop unless you force quit bryce.

I would try Reinstalling Bryce Completely get rid of 7 PLE and 7 Pro if you have them and then do a fresh install of the program. I hope that helps a bit (I am not sure of the problem but it might be an idea to do a fresh installation)

ok dumped everything and reinstalled and know for sure it is pro 7(not ple)

however same issue. well i used ot be able to move timeline  and see movement in the clouds as default.

is there some box in this version that needs to be checked off?

This sounds like a bug but have you checked in the Skylab>Clouds tab and see if the Cloud Motion>Speed is set to a non zero value (defaults for me to 10).

If that doesn't work you might try asking over at the DAZ Bryce forum (link). There's several Bryce animators over there that may be able to help.

i will try daz's forum- maybe someone else has the same issue

Bryce 7 Pro has a bug in the keyframing.  I have pointed it out on several occassions with bug reports.  Here is what I do to work around it.

1.  Set up your scene with all the elements that you are going to use.

  1. Add a keyframe at frame 0 for everything in the scene that will be animated.

  2. Animate everything manually by moving the time scrubber and then adding a keyframe.

I was seriously hoping that in the last development cycle animation would be a focus of the programmers.  Sadly it was not.  Maybe next time they will include more animators in the group of Beta testers.
