I know this isn't exactly On Topic but in a way it is.

I am active in several forum topics so I'd rather just do this once.

My mother has been found to have a stomach tumor and a biopsy was done.  It will be Tomorrow before we know if it is cance or not, if so, she may have up to three months and if not, three to six months to be with us.

As a result I will not be active on the boards as much, if at all.

We have Hospice setup and she will recieve excellent care for the remaining time she has.

Please keep us in you thoughts and prayers.

Very sorry to hear the news; either way it goes things don't sound fantastic.  You and your mother will definitely be in my thoughts.  I hope for the best possible outcome.

If, worst case, the diagnosis is cancer, it may not be as bad for your mother as you may think.  My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer almost two years ago and, despite it being one of the worst and most aggressive, he had almost no pain and very little reduction in his quality of life.  His surgeon told him it was often the case that there was little pain.  Of course, the pain relief was available if necessary but in his case, it wasn't needed.

In any event, I'm sure many people will keep you and your mom in their thoughts and prayers.

It is not fair to you or your family to divide your time between the forums and family crisis.  Take your time and spend whatever quality time is needed.  We wish you and your mother the best wishes and a better prognosis.  You will be in our prayers.

I've already been down this road twice. My good thoughts are with you and yours.

A wise decision to focus on your mother when she needs you. You are doing the best you can for her. May you find the strength you need in this difficult time.

@TheOwl: Thank you for the link, if there were not other factors involved it would be on thing to consider.

The main problem is that we have been told that if the test comes back positive for cancer, we can expect only less than 30 days, if ther eis no cancer she may go 30 days or longer.

I did not know this until today and it is so hard to deal with but I have to for her sake.

Just an update: The results are back, it is stage 4 cancer.

Because of treatments with Warfarin for 5 years, Mom is at risk of bleeding if they try to operate (it left her with severe anemia and bleeding), can't take radiation or chemo either.

All we can do is make her comfortable for the remaining time and we have Hospice to help with that.

I'm trying to cope and hold it altogether but I feel like I'm being ripped apart.

I'll be back on the boards when I can but that may be a long while.

I am so sorry to read this Helen. My thoughts are certainly with you and your mum and your family.

I hope you can all find the strength, and find sufficient respite from discomfort, pain and sadness, to savour all of the positives that you can in these last moments together.

I am very sorry for what you and your family are going through.  My mother is actually in a similar spot so I empathize deeply with your situation.

My thoughts and prayers are with you - I hope you can find some measure of peace and calm during this turbulent time.
