Does anyone know of a symbol for truth? I know that scales are justice, dove is peace, etc., but what about truth? This is really important, I have to meet a deadline. If you have any idea please respond. Also, is there a symbol for mental illness? I.E. medical is that snake around a pole, biohazard is that deal, but what is the symbol for an asylum or something? Thanks alot!

Truth is usually represented at a bright light in everything I've ever seen. You could always do the whole book theme, but that's usually knowledge, not necessarily truth. As for mental illness, you could make something up. I imagine a human head with two arrows chasing each other in a circle above the head would work. Unfortunately I don't think there is a standard symbol for mental illness, so the best you can really do is just make one up. I'd go for the whole bright light to represent truth, though. It kinda goes with that whole enlightenment idea. ~JKS

Here's a website for symbols that I've had in my favorites for eons...totally forgot about it until now. I didn't look to see if "truth" was there, or "mental illness" for that matter. But even if they aren't it's a nice reference if you work with a lot of symbolism. You can do a search either with a word or using a reverse search to find out what a symbol means that you've seen. Hope this helps. (The URL should take you to the word search)

Hey, that's a pretty cool website. They've got mental state of confusion (which was basically what I was talking about). They used a little tornado-looking drawing to illustrate that, though, but still said to put it over a person's head. As for truth, they had two symobls. So Mercutio will have to look at those and see which he likes best. Thanks for the site, IndigoSplash, this site will also come in real handy for me. ~JKS
