Subject: How on earth do you use this morphing tool?

Zanzo ( ) posted Sat, 02 June 2012 at 4:32 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 12:16 AM
  1. I have my figure selected.

  2. I activate the morphing tool and see the verts of my figure being highlighted in green, yellow and red.

  3. When I left click instead of doing anything it selects the figure behind the currently selected figure.

What the hell?

I've looked at countless tutorials but they don't go into step by step detail.

Use the shift key Plus left click mouse if you have problems selecting a particular item.

I have found it helpful to save my chacter to a work pz2, then load it up separately to do morph work.

You can also make certain items not visable (that are causing you trouble while using the morph brush), morph and then bring the visability back to the items. 😉

Yep, I know what you are talking about. The Shift + click doesn't work all that well. I generally turn off visibility on objects that are casuing problems, but that creates its own problems especially if you are trying to control poke thru because now you can't see what you trying to get the morph to work with.

funny, I was reading another thread asking peeps what they wished for in next upgrade with some of the wishes being truly wishful lol and none mentioned, that I read, a further improvement to the morph brush which is the most uselful addon they ever put put in. If it could work more smoothly, omitting the need to export items, including figures and just making adjustments within poser it would be fantastic. As it is, you still can, but while creating morphs is totally possible it could be easier and isn't that what the tool is for? For instance a specific undo for the tool and not a share with the general one, would be a big help. Zero morph and an undo are not the same thing at all. lol Also you work on a morph, and need to turn the camera slightly to see better and want to undo the last part but OH you must frist undo your camera movement, DUH :)

thanks everyone!

Santel

Go to the camera properties panel and un-tick "Remember changes for undo"

A useful feature.

thanks for the tip, I'll try that. Still hope for an undo feature in the tool itself, since morphing organic shapes in 3d space usually requires more than one operation and having to zero an attempted morph, which might be the culmination of serveral steps, because the last is undesirable isn't very efficient. I do know that the programmers have a lot on their plate, so I'm going to be very patient :)

There is a universal undo tool tha works in almost every 3D and 2D program.  It is the cntrl z function on your keyboard.  If you make a goof in Poser, simple use it to return to your previous action.  If you use that function again it goes one step farther back..Jan

Try locking the  figure you don't want to modify, then it will only modify the top one and when done you can unlock the first.
