Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
Beats me. How about a bit of good old fashioned self control, helped along with an alarm clock? Give yourself an alloted amount of time and stick to it.
Or, get yourself a couple of small children. You'll not have much time for anything, let alone Poser. :)
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Make a second account on your PC, for your work/graphics stuff only and (re)install the software for one account instead of for all users. That way you stop yourself from doing work while Posering too.
Working on your own from 9-5 only? Interesting set of customers...

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.
visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though
self control doesn't work
I was hoping there is a type of software that could do that...
as for customers there aren't any serious projects at the moment and it is easy to get carried away... Since it is the first time I'm the boss of my own I want to create a routine, that's why I want not to use poser at least from 9 to 5...
I tried the second "work" account but it seams that I have to set all my preferences again from scratch and that put me off
I'm telling you, kids. That's what you need. A couple of small, shouty people will take up every waking moment. :)
And no, you can't borrow mine. Get yer own. :)

I've got the one kid now... at 7 months old he's an entirely effective distraction when not sleeping.
But installing the pre-requisite "Wife 2.0" was in fact entirely effective prior to that...
...of course if I was working from home, I think I'd probably have to dry-line the shed and put some power out to there... and shut myself away out there to work... and then I'd more or less be back at square one with the self-discipline ;-)
I wonder if you could just employ some secretary to do some of the poser work for you eg installing stuff, and creating the background scene for your character etc.
Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
lol! estherau I have to admit that a secretary just for poser routine procedures would save me a lot of time! Material room and new weight system knowledge would also be welcome!
SamTherapy & monkeycloud I wish the best for you and your family! Hanging around with some of my married friends gives me a clue about how time consuming and also addictive kids are! However in contrast with poser (which sometimes make you doubt) this time totally worth it!
If poser is part of your business workflow, then you shouldn't feel too guilty.
As for distractions, I don't have kids or a nagging spouse, but I do have a 1-yr old pitbull, who is almost as much to handle as having a kid. She's very smart, and knows how to press my buttons. Except when she gets on my nerves I can just lock her in a cage. Unfortunately it's still illegal to do that with kids - hence why I still don't have any.

Closest I can find in a quick search is Romaco Timeout
http://www.romacocanada.ca/timeout/
It mentions program control and time limits. I'm not sure if it can set a quota for a specific program or not. You might have to setup a new account to make it work the way you want. I would hope there's a way to give a new account access to installed programs without reinstalling things - you can google that if necessary.
Of course, you'll be able to bypass/disable the software anyway so it still requires self control. What you could do is have someone else set the password and promise not to give it to you, no matter how much you beg, plead and grovel.

ExistentialDisorder unfortunatelly poser is just for fun, that's why it is so easy to be carried away, it is a "fun VS work" fight
Cool! I'll give timeout a try! :thumbupboth: it looks like what I want but instead of time zones it gives permmision for specific time!
You might consider having two separate systems if you can afford it. One that you use only for business and one you use only for personal use. If the app isn't on your business system, you'll be less tempted to push work aside.
Also helps to keep things separate, especially business emails, contracts, and client files.
I'm just building new computer. I have spare HD which works upto 7 hours. If you install your runtime or aplication on this HD you will have bluescreen after time limit. Then you must put HD to refrigerator for few hours and next day you can spend with Poser another 7 hours.
I can send you this smart device. I not need it anymore, because my wife is more effective.
I found a programm called temptation-blocker and some other programs for the same purpose too!
It seams that internet, social media & games addiction is the new hidden pandemic!
There is an alarm clock and countdown timer at this link and they are both free for personal use. I have been using the 'replicator' program for a number of years to program all my backups and the occasional restore and it works like a dream.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I am working on my own now and my problem is since I have poser on my pc I tend to spend more time than I should with it.
Is there a program that whould "lock" specific programs for specific hours?
So that I can not access poser 9-5?
Something like parental control software but not blocking internet access but specific programs (poser included  )
