Howdy folks;

Sadly i have just lost $20US at the Daz store!...

I purchased the V4 Skin Realism Kit by FaceOff installed it into poser...try to run the script...got a pop up with an error message. Any ideas why this might happen?...the kit is originally for poser 6 & 7 but it says that its updated to work with Poser 9 & 2012.

WINDOWS 7 64 bit

POSER PRO  2012 64 bit

thanks for viewing.

I guess the best person to ask would be faceoff ;). Looks like it's just not finding something.

And if it still doesn't work you can always get a refund since DAZ has a 30-day back guarantee so you haven't lost anything.

Cheer up and meanwhile download Snarly's EZ Skin :)

My guess is that the python script is not running correctly under the version of Poser you have. Contact Faceoff to see what he recommends would by my advice. If you don't get anywhere there, then Kalypso has the answer for you.

If I am looking at the right product I cannot see where states it is updated for Poser 9/2012.  I am also not quite sure why you need it in that the write-up talks about fake Sub Surface Scattering (SSS) and one of the new features in 9/2012 is Sub Surface Scattering.

I would suggest following Kalypso's advice and get a refund then download Snarly's EZ skin for free as this will have a much bigger impact on the reality of skin.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Online Now!

I just used it inside PoserPro 2012 SR2.1 to check and it worked fine for me. ( I do have it installed into the main Poser directory though, if that may make a difference. )

But I agree that the better option these days is to use Snarly's script, as this is then no longer dependent on specific lights like the realism kit is, by which I mean that every time you move V4 or adjust a light you have to re-run the realism script, whereas with Snarly's script it works with lighting/posing adjustments or even without lights if you are using light emitters.

Sheedee - it looks like it was potentially installed into the wrong Runtime.  It needs to be installed into the Runtime under your Poser.exe file.

Sheedee I bought my V4 realism kit, and a couple of other things from face off, in 2005 and I still get free updates!  I also have Snarly's free script that he was kind enough to share,  I use both of them.

@face_off how close is the new Poser Physics?  Loved the older one!

Very very close!  I think SmithMicro sent an email to customers a week or so ago saying "this month".

Skin realism kit has a nice option to create freckles, which I think is not present in ezskin

I purchased the skin realism kit some years ago and used it a great deal as it is a very good product, emphasis on the used.  However, I am now using Poser 2012 and when I first started I spent a lot of time trying to modify materials/shaders that were set up to fake SSS as this did not work well with the new SSS in 2012.

True, the kit does create freckels but I add these by using an extra layer in Paint Shop as this gives me more control over placement.  While I am not skilled enough set it up myself, I'm sure this can be added within Poser by someone with the right skills.

I have nothing at all against this pack, my concern is just the conflict between fake and the more updated version of SSS and the fact that it would have to be modified almost on a render by render basis.  The likes of EZ skin does not need to be modified although I accept that you may need more care or a better understanding of lights in Poser 9/2012.

Each to his own of course, and what works for you is fine but having an alterrnative is rarely a bad thing.

PoserPro.exe - I think Sheedee does not have Poser.exe

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
