DAZ used to have a hair style called "Coils" which reminds me of the ones in the pic above, but to be honest, I don't know if it's still for sale. It might have gone into the vault, like so much of their other stuff.
You might also try RDNA for a Afro Style that I think they still have there. Can't recall the name right now Iand I have the hair, just not at my computer right now.
Good looking out. I'd been all over the Daz site but hadn't seen that. Looks like my black hair collection will be growing (as my wallet is shrinking), lol. I also saw an afro style at RDNA. If I can adjust it for a single puff that might do. BTW, both these styles are made for older figures, I should be able to adjust them for kids, eh?

@ Glitterati3D, Nice! I have Afro Magic2 but could use some braids. I'm trying to fit an African American toddler though, so need something thats maybe less sophisticated. Good stuff though and glad to see it's available.
The coils are unique though. I should cop before they disappear.

Ah, well, that's too bad. I find that hairstyle to be very insulting to African Americans in general. It's very reminiscent of "slave styles."
In honesty, as an AA parent, I can assure you that I would never take a child out in public with that hair style.
Truly, an AA toddler wouldn't have anywhere near that amount of hair for any of these styles anyway.
For authenticity, a dark colored skull cap would be much more appropriate.
If you have the DAZ figure Grace for V4, she comes with a skull cap which StephanieBT (the PA) provided a fit for K4. For a toddler, that would be perfect!
you could also use this hair:

I have used it alot.

Interesting thought. As an African American I can't say I find the hairstyle offensive in and of itself. I'm more offended by blacks with blond hair and aware that the straightening of black hair is itself more in line with a slave mentality that devalues our natural locks.
That said the coil is not really appropriate for a black toddler nor would cornrows, nor any kind of permed style (I'm talking 18-24 months or so). What I would prefer is a common plaited style with a couple puffs or braids and cute barrets like the second picture. Don't think I'll find them though so I'll have to make do. Maybe a skull cap with a little puff in the back. My 18mo daughter has a beautiful afro when its picked out but, like you, my wife would never take her out in public like that. lol
I'd love to see more of your work though, especially if you have any more child renderings.
peace (and hair grease).

Quote - I think you can use the morphs with the Alicia package, I have used it so many times and really love it. The textures are great, comes with a cap too. Lots of different styles. Sharen
Do you mean the hair that comes with the stock Poser 8 figures? I didn't see where they had many morphs to them. Maybe I'm missing something? Can I use the hair and morphs on a different figure?

Oh, I see the link now. Thanks.

Quote - Here's one I did. Now, I cannot remember where I got the hair used here. I know that it came with a package named Ultra Baby, and I believe it's for MilBaby 3, but I just moved it into place and scaled it to fit The Baby 4 (which is a morph of Kids4). I've searched everywhere looking for Ultra Baby, but evidently it's no longer available. I can't find it anywhere, including ShareCG. Sorry.
Make sure you backup your files. That hair's as good as gold. I'll keep looking!

Yeah, that's why it stays in my main runtime. It's perfect for a baby and a toddler.
I just wish I could find Ultra Baby for you so I could point you there.
When I first started with this hobby, that was my first mission - to find a baby that looked like a baby. I bought and downloaded everything I could find for babies.

Well it looks like we're on the same page, or at least the same chapter. My mission as I resume this hobby after many years is baby stuff and African American hair for my adults. Looking for Baby 4 but it seems like it may have gone down the memory hole as I only find Baby 3 (or stuff like "sweet baby", I'll save those for later, lol). Do you prefer Kids 4 over Matt and Maddie? I could lose a day fooling with the preschoolers facial morphs but the kids have more items for sale. BTW: do you know where to find a good high chair and other paraphernalia?

The Alicia package looks promising, thanks for the tip

Baby 4 is a freebie morph for the Kids 4 over at ShareCG:
http://www.sharecg.com/v/58653/browse/11/Poser/The-Baby-4
And, I do prefer The Kids 4 over the Gen3 figures, simply because there is so much more available for them - characters and clothing - but especially characters. The quality of characters available for the Gen4 figures is just leaps and bounds above Gen3.
The problem, of course, for Poser users is that there's not been a true toddler (baby) before the release of the morph above. The Gen4 kids are pre-school at best, more likely age 6 or higher.
All of the clothing in the "Baby4" renders above is for The Kids4, using the "use morphs" and "use scaling" checked in the property window of Poser 2012.
High chair and stuff - ShareCG. When I was over there yesterday searching for Ultra Baby, I noted quite a bit of baby furniture.
I second the Alicia recommendation. There are pose packs for it, too - search on Alicia at RDNA. As I recall, StephanieBT used the Alicia hair for this promo image of "Jazmine." Not sure if it will do exactly what you want, but it comes with a ton of morphs.
There is a free Alicia fit for K4, thanks to France here:
http://kctc.francemi.net/ (look under DAZ People, Page 1, 92 Hair Fits for K4)
That Jazmine hair with the little bow would be perfect . I'd like to thank everyone for their input it's been very helpful. All I need now are some creative ideas, anyone know where I can buy some of them, lol?
peace

You can create an Afropuff out of Alicia hair by using three copys of it:
First copy use as normally, but make everything but the skullcap invisible.
Then duplicate the hair but make the skullcap invisible.
Use a magnet to make that copy a little more "puffy"-shaped.
Parent that puff to the skullcap, then duplicate the puff, move it to the other side of the head and parent that to the skullcap, too.
Alicia rocks! Didn't think this thread would have such legs but it will be a great resource for future Posers.

the top picture in the op uses Cool Coils hair. old - circa v3 ish. for sale at DAZ standalone or in a package
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/cool-coils/
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/4-in1-hair-bundle/
the v4 character Grace has a hair/scalp prop for that close clipped african hair look. easy to refit to other figures and might be a good base to add ponytails and whatnot to
one style I havent seen, that I remember on classmates when I was very young is the dozens of little braids with the plastic clips or glass ball decorated hair ties.

I'm looking for hair for an African American girl. Either Kids 4 or Matt and Maddie. I'd really like to get an Afropuff, parted in the middle with puffs on both sides. I like the top style too (don't know what it's called). Here are some photos.
Or plain ol corn rows.
BTW: can you put more than one hair on a figure?
thanks in advance
