I'm using Linux, but ping does indeed give 66.11.227.10.  The url given after the first iteration  is 66-11-227-10.managemyvps.com ...

Hmmm... probably a red herring there actually... domaintools.com is telling me there's no web front end associated with that domain.

I don't have enough IP tools on my iPhone to easily check much further...

Keep in mind that many of the ISPs are currently doing the switch to IPv6. which will cause thinge like this to happen. Especially if your isp is not set up for IPv6 yet.

I can't connect to it too.  I tried to ask someone in UK to connect there, it failed too.  I think the issue is global!

No luck connecting from any of my browsers -- FireFox, Chrome, IE.  I am in the United States.

I have posed a problem I am having with V4WM to the Renderosity V4WM forum.

My entire site is hosted there.  I do have the files backed up, but if I were to re-post anywhere I'd have to rebuild the site structure (haphazard though it may be).

I haven't heard from Mike in a couple of months, so I currently can't access the server myself to update my site at all.  But then I've also had a rough time during this period and haven't been very involved with Poser or the community.  Hoping to get back to it.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

shvrdavid ( ) posted Thu, 21 June 2012 at 6:21 AM

It has to be something to do with the IPv6 transistion. I can still get on the site, have been able too the whole time that others have not.

Might be worth looking at your isp's home page and see if they have any info posted on the IPv6 transistion.

Most companies said that the transistion would go smoothly, but we all know better than that.

The problem with the IPv6 theory is that it would surely affect a lot more than one site for Internet power users....

Quote - The problem with the IPv6 theory is that it would surely affect a lot more than one site for Internet power users....

It will affect everything on the affected server based on how the DNS tables update, and if it works on the servers it is pointing too. If a server gets dropped from your DNS list, you can't find it with a browser. If it has an IPv6 address, but that doesn't work, it will time out long before it even tries the IPv4 address.

Like I said earlier, I can get on the site, have been able to the whole time. My internet connection uses both IPv4 and IPv6

The nightmere has only just gotten started with IPv6.

Here are some quotes from a recent article about all the problems that are occuring even thou people have not seen much of it, yet.

"On networks that need to support anything other than a Windows Vista/7 monoculture, it's infeasible to turn off stateless autoconfig, because then some systems simply wouldn't get an IPv6 address. Worse, the information that stateless autoconfig is not in use must be multicast by routers. Just one rogue router that says otherwise can make all hosts create those unpredictable temporary addresses.... "

Another problem...

"If something goes wrong with IPv6, nine out of ten times, nobody even notices: most communication is over IPv4 anyway. And if a session is initiated over IPv6 but then fails, it's usually retried over IPv4 automatically. This may happen after a significant delay, or within a fraction of a second. If users complain, it's not unheard of that IPv6 issues get very low priority. For instance, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard has a serious bug in its DNS code that makes it ignore IPv6 in the DNS when there is a CNAME record involved, a case which is not uncommon. One year and four point updates later, the bug is still there."

Problem gets worse, because what they said no one would notice, is getting noticed. Servers that use IPv6 and pipelining will see problems with the ipv6 router refusing to allow the TCP session to stay open as well.

Another quote:

"An example of the "can't get there from here" problem is the issue with hosts that think they have IPv6, but in reality it doesn't work. Even though we know how to run IPv4 and we know how to run IPv6, we find ourselves in a world where both protocols exist side-by-side, and interact in unexpected ways. Hosts that think they have IPv6 connectivity will try to connect to servers that have an IPv6 address in the DNS over IPv6. But if the IPv6 connectivity then doesn't work, nothing happens for a while until the application times out"

Which equates to "page not found" in a browser.

Afraid not. If people from various parts of the world cannot get in, it's not simply "their problem." Now, it may not be a Poser Place problem either; it could be that some very key routing in between can't get there.

Where there is a problem with url propagation, you should be able to use the DNS number to get to the site. Maybe someone could post the site's DNS number?

I'd mess something up for sure. So I'm not even going to try it. Besides. I don't even know what a "DNS" is. And given a response at the RDNA forum where someone said "I'm not going to use Google DNS", I'm hesitant too.  Google is becoming like a virus these days, and I don't want to give it anymore access to my computer than it already has with me using it as a browser.

I followed the instructions here:

https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

A post above here points to a post at RDNA and that post mentions this page.

The difference is that I didn't put Google's DNS server first but last instead as I felt that it might be safer that way. I'm using a Mac and those instructions were exact, don't know about Windows and Linux, sorry.

Not sure why it doesn't connect, the properties panel does caution you to restart connection so new DNS takes.  You will also have to close all instances of whatever browser you are using.  It seems to hang on to the old DNS until restarted

I just entered the google numbers in dns in my router config and left the computer set for automatic. Worked fine.

Cox won't work at all for poserplace, neither will any of my 3 web servers, which are in 3 separate datacenters- 2 in Houston and 1 in Dallas.

Don't think it's IPV6, the ns records seem to indicate IPV4
It doesn't make sense that the google nameservers would work and the others won't (but google does work), unless google is more forgiving.
I'm thinking the phantom3d dns is screwed up somehow, I did notice some anomolies while digging for the nameserver records but didn't analyze them or anything.
