Subject: V4-WM Texturing puzzle

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

I've managed to weight map V4 - and am experimenting to see what she can do.  However, I've some problems re texturing.  I've used a V4-WM texture on the figure (by Robynsveil) but it seems as though the wrong materials are being allocated to the wrong parts of the figure (even though the Material Room tells me otherwise). Here's the before render view:

and after:

weird or what?

 I'm using Poser 9 on Windows 7 64 bit.

Yes the is certainly weird and I have no idea what is going on.  I have been using V4WM for some months and have used a number of textures originally for V4 and have had no problems so far.  Even the clothes have converted well using Outfitter.

I am using Poser 2012 on Windows 7 64 but so there should no difference, that I can see, from our setups in this instance.

I hope someone with more knowledge post here soon as the is a very strange render.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I'm wondering whether I've got the Weight Mapping script set up correctly. The weird material zone is the inner mouth which seems to plant itself by default on the body despite mat room telling me otherwise.

It is a while since I did this but If I remember correctly you had to load the helper bones geometires (.obj) in a particular folder and then place the other files where you liked so long as the victoria4.2_settings.txt was in the same place.  Run the script and point the 'figure to have weights injected at the V4.2 cr2.  The 'weight injection pose' at the weight pose included with the zip and the 'Optional pose containing new actor's at the V4WM helper bones.

When run the script should give you another cr2 in the daz V4.2 folder but now a WM versions.  However I cannot see why any mistake here would affect the materials but, on the other hand the inner mouth problems rings a bell.  I remember seeing this before and thinking the inner mouth is selected as it is the first material.  Problem is, while I have distant memories of the problem I cannot for the life of me remeber what I did to fix it.

Thanks - I'll give it a go - I'll take out all the WM obj and pz files etc and reload them along with the text file (which I remembered) and see what happens.  However, it won't be till next week as I'm in London over the next few days

I would try loadign that texture set onto plain V4, save it as a material collection, and load that material collection onto V4WM and see what happens.

The material zones are unchanged for V4WM, except for the addition of the body handles for the helper bones, which should be invisible (and inside the figure)...

There is a reload texture command located at the upper right hand corner of the preview panel.  Click the small arrow there to open the menu.  I would think that Poser glitched at that moment.  I have used countless textures with V4 WM and haven't had any problems yet.

Gesundheit!

The handles are there to profide some geometry for the bones, which are controlled by ERC.  One shoudn't need to actually manipulate the handles, so they are tucked inside the body to keep them out of they way of dynamic cloth and such...

it's a whole new concept.

the secrets book mentions buffer body parts, but i was imagining that would make it harder to setup clothes.

For helperbones in the clothing, they are driven off of the figure's bones rather than needing ERCs in the cloth, so I think it's just a matter of dropping the rig in the setup room.  I seem to recall trying it on a test mesh back when we were testing Outfitter, but I don't recall exactly what I did, and my PP012 machine is 3000 miles away...
