Subject: Looking for all 3D model related sites

FightingWolf ( ) posted Sun, 01 July 2012 at 6:49 PM · edited Tue, 21 January 2025 at 11:48 PM

I'm currently hunting for all sites that offer 3D related models for Poser / DazStudio.  If the site sells or offers free 3D models (No pirate or torrent sites) then I would like to take a look at it and add it to my list.

I already have the 5 major sites (daz3d, renderosity, contentparadise, sharecg, and runtime DNA.)  Please let me know of others even if it's your own site.  I've ran into a few japanese sites that had some really cool stuff but I'll have to hunt down those links.  Hopefully by the end of August I'll have one big mega collection of sites with cool and free 3D models.

Any help is appreciated.

There are a number of sites listed here. Some links may have adult content but are mrked as such.

Thanks.  I've never seen this site before but I must say.  I like what I see.  It's literally a fresh look for me.  It's nice to see clothes that actually cover the body.

I keep a note of freebie legal websites at my bloggie

And i do include Japanese websites as well.  But i post as i see them, so that's a fairly large number of posts.  Hope it's helpful.

I think the OP is looking for poser/DaZ content sites

Not sure if there is a poser/Daz format section over at TS but its been a while since I looked around over there.

Your posting said "models for Poser", so if you're willing to import 3DS models, this is the most amazing site I've seen in years.

http://archive3d.net/

There are literally thousands of pieces of furniture, beds, clothing, flowers, vases, light fixtures, etc. at this site. It's a little hard to follow as I think it's Russian. Don't click on the big 'DOWNLOAD" buttons. Click on the image once, it will be brought up by itself on the screen, then click on the image again. You'll get prompted for downloading. Some models are excellent; others seem to be only partially finished. I think they add new items daily. I'm at a loss as to how the site makes money.

As a safety precaution, I'd scan everything I download for viruses from anywhere on the net...

Good luck

Don't go to the site Mark@poser linked to above. A large proportion of the content there infringes copyright.

You'll never find all 3D model related sites, FightingWolf. But I like to think I have a large selection of the Poser related ones. :)

Not to hijack the thread, but that's very sad to hear. As I mentioned above, I could not figure that site out as it has so much stuff on it. I've looked thru hundreds of items there and not seen anything that indicated that to me, so I thought it was safe.

Of course, almost every large website that accepts user input that I've ever visited has had some copyright infringement items on it once or twice. Even Renderosity has gone thru that before.

Thanks for the info

EnglishBob ( ) posted Mon, 02 July 2012 at 10:56 AM

Yeah, sorry to be the bearer of bad news; but if something seems too good to be true, sadly it usually is.

I don't see this as a hijack of the thread, since anyone who spends time searching for freebie downloads will run into this problem at one time or another. I had a similarly dodgy site on my links page for a while before I realised and pulled it.

Here's one test that I do if I'm doubtful. If the site in question offers downloads of people or figures, download one of them and look at the files. Although the model itself will probably be in 3DS format, the textures will have the familiar layout that we associate with DAZ figures. I've found several that still have the creator's logo and copyright message on them.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I really appreciate the help with this.  I hope I'll be able to finish enough of this project in July so that it will be worth sharing in the forum.

Pretty ambitious to want to cover them all. Good luck with that. :)

3mbi.com sells a LOT of "normal" clothing, mostly for V4. There are also a few animals and a sports car. Reasonably priced.

mankahoo.com has a lot of hair and some original figures and clothing.

meshbox.com has a lot of vehicles and prop-type stuff.

I use turbosquid.com when I want something quick to add to my Poser scenes.  Most usually come with material zones and are uv mapped, so it is easy to apply the materials and texture and off to rendering.

Same here. But that's a good thing for all of us including the vendor

Kendra ( ) posted Thu, 05 July 2012 at 7:48 PM

There used to be a thread at Daz where anyone offering freebies posted their site.  Looks like they tried to condense a lot of it into This Thread but they missed a lot of what was there.  Still, it's a huge list.

Thanks for the long list of sites.  I haven't been to all of the sites yet, but it definitely look like it will add 6 months of work for me with no problem.
