Subject: Need help getting Queue Manager working on 2nd machine

JoeC ( ) posted Wed, 11 July 2012 at 4:38 PM · edited Fri, 31 January 2025 at 9:45 PM

Hi everybody!

I have been trying for the past 3 days to get queue manager working on #2 computer.

I have a mac pro tower for my host computer and a mac book pro for my node computer. I am running SR2.1 on both machines and all the version numbers match.

I have them both on a network and can talk to one another all day long. but when I try "send to queue" from host machine it just sits there with "adding new queue entry id"

I have triple checked all my settings in QM, so that is not the problem. I dont know why the two QM's cant talk.

I got it to work once, when I reinstalled the sr2.1 update on my host machine and the sr2.1 Queue manager on my node machine, but when I came back from lunch it would not do it again

Please help

Joe C.

have you checked your firewall settings to make sure each machine is not blocking the QM function, and i think there is something about QM only needs to be hard installed on the second machine, worth a try

thanks for the reply. the firewall is turned off. can I install poser on the 2nd machine or does that confuse QM?

as far as im aware, qm only has to be installed on themachine you intend to render on, if qm is installed on the parent machine as well it doesnt work

The Poser manual is pretty clear on how to install Queue Manager.

The gist is:

the master machine should have QM in the same folder as the PoserPro.exe. That has to be there to connect with QMs on other (slave) machines, so it's installed by default: you don't have to do a separate installation run for it.

You install QM only - not Poser itself - on the slave machines.

If all your PCs are networked properly, all the QMs will talk to each other. Use the one on the master to manage how jobs are distributed.

If nothing else helps, you can install Wireshark on one of your machines to find out if the two of them are talking to each other.
