Subject: screen capture software for tutorials?

MistyLaraCarrara ( ) posted Sun, 15 July 2012 at 9:10 AM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 2:07 PM

y'know those tutorials that show the mouse moving and such?

i used to think it was a video camera pointed at the monitor, but, maybe it's a software utility?

can anyone recommend one?  can it record audio at the same time it's screen capturing?

thanks!  cheers

I've used Camptasia which has a powerpoint add on so you can work in powerpoint and save it for camptasia as a movie edditor so you can add all the moving edditting items.  It has a screen caprture program I use independently to capture movies that I can't download any other way. it does work in the background I was using it to capture google earth as it flies to a to alocation I'm trying to use it to make an animated bat and your seein gfrom his eyes as he goes to bat caves around the country and then a presentation on location type formation species of bats in the cave etc. captasia does have a light pointer to point at objects dont' know about writing though probably away to do it.

I'm using CamStudio 2.6 with the CamStudio codec 1.5 for non-game apps.  It saves as an AVI that I then run through DivX AVI so I can load the captured movies into my video editors.  I set my application window size to 1280 x 720 so they are HD on YouTube.  If you are doing a tut for a game, then FRAPS is the program to get.

i like both camstia and camstudio.

Also if you use windows 7 you can also use windows screen snaps to capture  your monitor images

BB Flashback http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/

BB Flashback Express is Free, and captures audio too. Saves in Flash or AVI format. Great quality, small file sizes.

The Standard and Pro versions give you more functions and export formats, compare to the Free version here:
