You don't really have too many options.
You ruled out EXP in your thread over at DAZ, .PMD are an issue in DS4, a custom CR2 with just a readscript and your morph channels wont work for the same reason you gave for EXP.
You can make new channels in a loaded figure with python but that wont work in DS, you might be able to get someone in the funny handshake gang over at DAZ to make you a DS version, but don't be too surprised if you get ignored.
Which pretty much leaves you right back where you started with the PMBCC & PMBDC channels.
Yeah that's the issue - getting it to work in DAZ too. It has to work in both. I have a message in to a DAZ script creator, we'll see how that goes.
But it's looking like PBMCC/DC will be our choice. So with that being said, can anyone here answer this? http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/5108/
Thanks!
There are two sets of channels. Community channels, PBMCC, which are used by the community for custom morphs and DAZ channels, PBMDC, which are for DAZ use and could be used in some of DAZ's morphs so you stay away from those because you could overwrite one of DAZ's morphs with your own. To keep from overwriting DAZ's products, you only use PBMCC, with limits you to only 50 morphs... and probably less than that because other vendors could use those one of those channels as well.
That's why if you have a large number of morphs to add to a product, you create your own, hence was why I suggested ExP to you, which would work in both DS and Poser.
My original post points out how I am trying to avoid morph channel conflicts.
The DAZ PBMDC channels behave the exact same way as the Community PBMCC channels.
Most (well, I'd say all) third party vendors use the PBMCCs for their morphs. So why aren't the PBMDCs the better option?
Do you have an example of a DAZ product that uses the PBMDC channels?
Morphs++, Aiko, Elite, etc. do not use them I don't believe - they use ExP.
Perhaps DAZ had originally planned to use those channels but then turned to ExP?
Unfortunately as I told you, ExP is not an option. We don't want the customer to have to start with a fresh V4 to use our morphs. They need to be able to be loaded on any V4 character, including saved custom V4s.
As a customer myself I would not want to have to run a .BAT to update my default V4, then load a fresh V4 and have to load Morphs++, texture, etc. just for an add-on morph product.
But how exactly using channels reserved for DAZ's products avoiding channel conflicts? You have your options... just pick one.
Use those community channels with the daz ones and I guarantee, you'll get emails asking why your product doesn't work when they get a custom character and it blows away your morphs.
Hmm it seems I'm on to something here. I messaged a very knowledgable DAZ forum admin, and he confirmed that pretty much all of the DAZ morph products do not use the PBMDCs - they use ExP, including the Aged set. (He couldn't name any that use the PBMDCs).
Let's keep this quiet or we'll have all the content creators using the PBMDC's instead of the CC's now. ;) I CALLED THEM FIRST, back off - I'll bite you!

Hi!
I'm looking for information on the best way to inject a large set of morphs into V4.2.
Basically we are planning a bunch of morph products which will use ERC and a lot of morph channels. We don't want to use the Community channels (PBMCC) or DAZ channels (PBMDC), as there won't be enough channels and it'll cause conflicts with other vendor's products which use the same channels. We all know how frustrating it can be when one product screws up another one sharing the same channel.
So we need to create our own channels. It needs to work in both Poser and DAZ.
As far as I know we have two options: ExP - which I cannot find any documentation/tutorials on. I also don't know if it would work in Poser?
Or .PMD, which I've read can be buggy. Also does not work in DAZ, although I believe there is a free plugin that allows it to. I hate to need to have people download and install something extra though.
Are there any other options?
Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on the ExP system?
Any help would be very much appreciated. :)
Thank you!
