Subject: Dream Home Questions

cedarwolf ( ) posted Thu, 09 August 2012 at 3:59 PM · edited Mon, 10 February 2025 at 11:17 AM

I'm back again with questions about the DAZ Dream Home.  I finally, with the kind assistance of the forum folks here, figured out that I don't have the complete dream home and need to get the missing pieces.

One of the things I have noticed is that, in the packages I have purchased so far, there are no lights or camera settings.  Does anyone know if these are a seperate purchase of just not offered?

Well, I'm off to go try to find the furniture that goes in those rooms.  Somehow, in my extasy to get the Home, I forgot to get furniture...sounds a little too, well, real world, doesn't it?  I'd take suggestions on this as well.

Thanks again, folks.

Bedroom? No question - look in my store (with dreamlandmodels).

You get a ton of awesome wood shaders, too, that work on other stuff.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I have two parts of the Dream Home. Not a happy customer in this regard since the Dream Home Bath does not load in Poser and I have no idea why it does not.

Are you sure it's not loading, and not that it's simply out of view (all the parts of the Dream Home load in place for the completed building, so some parts are way off the basic ground plane). I'm not aware of any issues affecting Poser users with the DH bathroom.

The bath does load.  I've used it before.  And you're right, each section of the home is designed to load on different areas of the ground plane, so that if you were to load every section at once, the home would be fully assembled.

Online Now!

Someone wrote a script some time ago exclusively for the Dream House to orientate all the rooms into their zeroed position in Poser.  It was freeware, that much I remember.

cedarwolf ( ) posted Fri, 10 August 2012 at 3:34 PM

hborre, if anyone can remember where that script is, I'd LOVE a copy of it.  I hope my software isn't too old to support the script.

I hate it because it loads all over the place, and you have to jockey V4 all over the screen to get her in a room. I can't belive anyone is going to use the entire Dream HOme together, anyway, so why not load it in the default Poser position. Also the furniture does not line up.

MistyLaraCarrara ( ) posted Sat, 11 August 2012 at 9:44 AM

you could use the parent-to-cube primitive method.

load the bathroom and the fixtures.  i use heirarchy editor to parent the fixtures to the bathroom base figure.

load a cube primitive and send it out to the bathroom.  parent the base bathroom figure to the cube. then use the cube to bring the room home so to speak, rotate, etc.

if you're interested in this method, i'll look up what the offsets were?

i use the cube method for y-rotating the fixture pieces, it's less fuss than tinkering with y-origin.

the dh kitchen is real nice.  it joins with the greatroom and breakfast nook.

****** note, these values are in poser native units.

MasterBath:
 - dh_bathroom - the room
MBRfixtures

  • bth bath - the main group of fixtures
  • fwc_wbasin
  • mwc_wbasin
  • sh shower

pick a parent to figure parent the others

load a primitive prop
set the x,y,z trans for the primitive
x= 11.5338
y= 0.004144
z= 1.08136

parent the 'picked parent' to the primitive.

set the primtive's x,y,z trans's = 0

hide 'bth_c_flr_ho' thingee to uncover the bathtub.

the toilet 'wc 1', is it's own figure and can be saved as an individual to the library.

it would've been funny, if they'd left the seat up on the male wc toilet.

they even put water in the porcelain. lol

Incredible!  Thanks Misty!  All I need now is the starting locations in DAZ Studio, and I'm all set.  I didnt' know about the bath and the toilet.  I don't remember seeing these in the readme.

This is just the type of info end users need.  Too bad it doesn't show up in the readme all that often.

MistyLaraCarrara ( ) posted Sun, 12 August 2012 at 12:43 PM

the bath and toilets are in the bathroom fixtures set.

and there is an addon texture set for the room itself, ... can't remember the name of it

Some time ago, I bought the whole DH, everything I could find on it.  At the time, it seemed like it would serve in a lot of situations, but such is not the case.  It's big, very big, and seems when you're only working with one or two rooms to be one huge PITA.  So far, I've used parts twice, and because there's no way to move them into the center of the working area, it's been a pain.  Yeah, I can have the camera center on it, but that's fine for one room, not if you're using three or four.

The furnishings, with the differences you can get, are quite useful, if I happen to think of them at the time I need something, and nature still says thinking will come after action, such as finding something else and not wanting to redo the whole thing again.

Just a caution that what you might use may be a lot less than you're thinking at the moment.

There's no one-click move to centre, but you can of course move the model to the centre of the workspace (and save a pose for later reuse, or for furniture).

Dream Home Zero poses- will need to go into your runtime/pose folder. File has been renamed to get it into the forum, you will need to remove the .txt extension to change it back to a zip file.

Not sure if the poses go into DAZ Studio but if you open the PZ2 file with WordPad you can get the XTran, YTran and ZTran details for the room body.

Once zeroed the room can be parented to an invisble dummy prop and the prop rotated/moved

Hi all. I have the Dream Home stuff too, and I had to wait until I had a proper graphics set up to load the whole thing and not have the program crash or lock up. I think I'm missing a section, though, but I can'tfind the missing piece... anyone know what it's called? It has the end of the balcony at back, and thereseems to be a room missing beside the great room. See the arrows on the pic...

Cheers

Piersyf

The product you're missing is the Entrance, Lanai and Mud Room

http://www.daz3d.com/shop/dream-home-entrance-lanai-and-mud-room

Forgot to put the Lanai on my ground plan :(

Personally  I only load the rooms/props I need, parent them and bring then into the middle of the scene

Cheers! I have that, but for some reason thought it was at the front of the building. Added and now a complete building, plus landscaping and tennis court!
