If you can't eat it or play with it,

just pee on it and walk away. :-)

Ah, the problem with Poser hoarding is that 10 TB of storage still takes up very little space, so it's going to take your family and friends a long time to even notice that they need to stage an intervention.

I think everyone hoards something, at least a little bit but whenever I read or see this degree of "void filling", I think... "I am so glad this is not me".

.

rokket ( ) posted Thu, 23 August 2012 at 9:22 PM

I am the exact opposite. I throw everything that I don't see value in away. Sometimes to the disdain of the wife. She has the potential to be a hoarder. I think we balance each other out some.

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Unless of course they look at the credit card bill. Good thing there is also freebies.

I have a hard and fast rule - with the exception of holiday decorations, if I haven't used it in 6 months, out it goes.

Good rule, but perhaps not applicable to earthquake or hurricane survival kits either... unless your part of the world is significantly more (or less) exciting than mine.

If I did that I'd have no summer clothes. Winter lasts longer than 6 months here.

I'll atmit I am a horder, but mildly. Periodically I go through a drawer or a closet and if I haven't used something in a couple of years and not saving it for something specific I'll most likely get rid of it.

My sister's friend's mom was a clothes horder-she had bins of unused Prada shoes and Vuitton bags with the prices still on them. At least she kept things neat and nicely organized, so they are selling the stuff off, and my Sister is getting some of  the empty storage bins...

I must admit that I currently have seven laptops in addition to my render machine, but some of them are going to the kids; there is a method to my madness...

Of all things I tend to collect and hold onto broken electronics. Tv's, stereos, computer parts, and whatever else I find and think I can fix. lol More often than not, I can't.

It is quite possible that if I took everything that I have in my runtime and turned it into real life objects, my house might look like that.

Just because I haven't had to shoot an intruder in the last six months does not mean I'm tossing out my firearms.

Janl ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2012 at 5:55 PM

My runtimes would definitely look like that too.

jerr3d ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2012 at 7:31 PM

Yeah, I really have alot of stuff. It is unmanageable really. Not only do I have to hope what I am looking for is on a disk that I bothered to index, but then I have to actually find the physical disk! x.X;

If I did that I'd have 3 tanks, 4 helicopters, 12 cars, 6 motorcycles, 17 spacecraft of various sizes, several castles, four or five complete medieval towns, and (among other things) a whole lot of dinosaurs. Have to love CGI.

It is kinda' like owning a really big department store full of clothes that is all mixed up and scattered around the store, making finding something more time consuming than it should be.

rokket - if you don't hoard poser stuff you will find it really hard to make your comic as you will suddenly need some 3d object and if you have thrown it out you will have to go look for it again and you might never find it.

Jerr, most good hoarders know roughly where most things are.

My mother-in-law was a serious hoarder. She had me helping repair a pair of jeans that were so torn I basically replaced the front of both legs because she didn't have enough jeans. When she passed we filled over 25 large garbage bags with her clothes to take to a second hand shop. One or two bags were just jeans. This was after my sister-in-law and I took what we wanted.

Before she died hospice came in and started cleaning for her and getting rid of dead plants and such. She didn't say anything when they were there but after they left she went balistic saying we were acting like she was already dead.
