Subject: OpenGL-Problems

Hello.

I've been busy for a very long time and now - after installing Poser Pro 2012 - I've found some problems running it on my Win7 PC.
I did a search here in the forum but the answers I've found didn't help me so here is my question:

Why turns the figure I've loaded into Poser (64 BIT, the problem occurs in SP2 and SP3 also) black after applying a texture from the library? I can see only the eyes and finger- and toenails then. If I switch from OpenGL to Sreed I get a ugly preview only.
I've changed the lights and the lightmaps, reloaded the textures - nothing will help.
I've found out that I can disconnect the "diffuse value" node but it has to stay at a value of 1.000 - this will bring back the loaded texture in a "normal" colour. But I don't want to do this manually for all the characters and textures.
It's very strange that the the texture-nodes in the advanced materials editor are completely different when I switch from OpenGL to Sreed.

Is there a solution for this problem?

The graphics drivers are new. I've installed all updates for Win 7; The system is a Intel Core i7 3960X, 32 GB RAM and a GForce GTX 580 Twin Frozr so I guess Poser should run on it without any problems.

Any help?

Could you post a screengrab of your preview rendersettings please.

Also, does it do this with all textures, or just one particular texture you are applying?

If your textures are in another runtime?

Did you re-connect those runtimes after installing the SR"s???

Questions;

How did you install the SR"s

  1. Remove, -back up, - or maintain preferences?
  2. Did you reconnect all your runtimes?
  3. Check the texture paths in the cr2's. Are those runtimes connected into the library after the SR installs??

Also, show a screengrab from the Render-preview settings
Is HW shading supported on your video card and enabled?

Try: when all runtimes are loaded OK, and you still have BLACK textures.
Click on Reload textures in the render menu.
What happens?

Follow up question?

What and how do you load?
from a cr2?
from an older pZ3?

Check the paths in both, and check that you did not move your runtimes to another path?

I found that, after upgrading to SR3, I loaded SP4's texture onto V4 and what I got was a sickly yellow jelly like skin, black scleras and only eye irises were showing the correct texture. I save the file, thinking that it was a Poser glitch, but the weirdness persisted, even after reopening Poser. I haven't tried her textures since, but I will. I've come across a couple weird things in SR3...heh.

Also, to determine for sure if it is a openGL preview problem, do the textures render ok or are they bad in render also

mmmhhhh....

it makes no difference if I open a CR2 or a PZ3. It does NOT happen if I load a standard character like a simple Vicky 4 into the screen. But when I try to apply a texture from the mat-poses (....for victoria 4.x) the mat-pose will load and then the character becomes black or dark-brown. The eyes are visible after that and also the nails.

The renders are fine even if I can't see what I'm doing in the preview screen. Doesn't matter if I use the standard settings or my own. It's in the preview screen only.

I've attached a screenshot from within the materials-room.

At the moment I'm using the Sreed-preview so I can see the textures.
