I updated poser pro 2012 with I believe SR3 and now when do I do a library search it can only find content in Poser Pro 2012 and not in any of the previous versions I have installed and sometimes not even in there..I checked and again added all the other runtimes but most of the time the search comes up with nothing when in the past it would work normally....any ideas and thank you.

It seems to work fine for me

What OS are you using?

charlesatlas ( ) posted Mon, 27 August 2012 at 5:13 PM

windows 7 the same OS I have always used and if you save a pz file you cannot open it in Maya and I have Poser Fusion.

I think there are updates coming for SR3 for the addons. But you should check with Smith Micro to see iof they know the problem with SR3 and PZ files

I use windows 7 as well. The search engine in Poser uses the internal windows 7 search engine to search locally. If you do the same query in Windows Search - do you get results (this is to check of the index is still ok)

In the test I just did, I search for "bag" in all categories and got back a few 100 results across 6 runtimes, so the search does not seem to be broken as such.
They made a few changes to speed up local search and to have a full search over all categories if none are checked.  Are you certain that the search did finish? (look at the search button)

I get queries in the windows search window and I also started the search index...still it works but nothing in poser 2012 and it used to work fine.

Also the library is a tiny window on the right now how do I restore it to the large separate panel it used to be?

I loaded SR3 last night and had something similiar happen. I think during the installation, you are asked if you want to use the defalt preferences and save your old ones in a back-up (the default). If you accepted that and didn't change to another option, your libraries are removed (it's a dumb default). There is a fix that's simple. Look in this posting at the bottom. I repeat the steps that worked for me in there.

The tiny window is because you now have the flash version of the library. Switch to the air version by going to General Preferences in the Edit Menu and change in the Library Tab Launch behaviour to External. Maybe the search problem is related to that as well

Okay got my large library window back thank you both but search still only shows the results of whats in poser 2012.

I find it quicker just to do a search in finder for my stuff anyway. And you can drag and drop from your desktop or other drives straight into poser if you want.

Please note, there are 3 installation options for each PP2012 SR; if you want to retain all your preferences and settings, select option #3 - keep your old Poser settings.

check search setting to see if they are deep or shallow

Wrong search - ignore that.

This is the library search tab - where you type what you're looking for and it searches your runtimes.

This has nothing whatsoever with the deep/shallow search for textures and geometries that are asked for by various files but don't seem to be where they are supposed to be.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

If you move runtimes around??????????

Check the paths in the cr2's and in the pz3's. (and all others you try to load)

Probable those paths are still looking in the old places your runtimes where before.

Thank you all but runtimes have NOT been moved and everything is the same which is what I cannot understand as it only shows whats in Poser 2012.

estherau ( ) posted Tue, 28 August 2012 at 12:47 AM

Maybe you need to add your runtimes back in from within poser.
