I thought it'd be an idea to showcase images you have shot with a 50mm lens, (actually it is the idea of Drag) be it a mk1 or 11 thrifty 50, the f1.4 or indeed a superior 50mm L. If you don't have a prime 50mm, don't despair, set your zoom lens on 50 mm and off you go. Last week back, I set myself a goal to use just a 50mm lens and see what I could get in the bag. I got a few delicious surprises. Took me back to my film camera days of disciplinary photography. You'll find it really makes you slow down and think about what you are doing. Please no arguments about sensor sizes and the fact that on APS C's it is not 50mm it's this that and the other. The idea here is to simply stay on 50mm focal length, and see what you come up with.

BTW if you use a bridge style/compact camera you are most welcome.  The content of the shot is not paramount, just the fact that it was shot at 50mm Focal length.

I bought mine some time ago, I use a Nikon D3000 and a Nikkor 50mm lens 1.8D. Now it is my main lens, I use it for everything because the quality of the light and focus is superior to any other.

I use it all the time, for all kinds of subjects, playing with all the settings. The lens is auto focus, although I use manual focus because I love it and often I get better results, as I always liked it.

Here is a pic of Byron, our male cockatiel, taken with it. Soon I will post a close view, so you can appreciate more the focus. See the blurred wall, that was only some centimeters away. I opened it to 2.2 for this.

Fantastic clarity and that bokeh is wonderful, look forward to the others!

I was going to post his girlfriend here, you know the one Ronnie, the one with the Pink Kinky Boots.  But I took it on my 85mm f/1.8.  Now if you open it up for that little lens as well, I have loads more!

Well it is essentially a 50mm thread mate, but as most are not listing exif data, we can only trust integrity.  Not that I for a minute suggesting anyone is being dishonest.  So I'd say if it was a zoom you were using, we'd never know it didn't range for 50mm :)

Yes when I was a nipper I dreamed about them, still looks superb and I image will still show up the boy racers in thier little hot haches.

Great shots, I like very much the dragon tail photo. Agree with all that, the quality of focus, light, blur, is superior. In the Audi Quatro photo, if you see this photo at full size, one can notice the quality of the lighting and definition.
