Question: when you put the background photo in place, does it or does it not block or disrupt the Indirect light bounces?

I have a bunch of background images collected or self made and considered if I put them in the scene ala your examples that I would be disrupting the Indirect Light bounces.

I think all you need to do is turn off shadows and they should pass right thru...or so I would think ;).
