If you plan to get a specific color by putting that color into the HSV control color, you will fail.
The HSV color is multiplied with the skin texture. This process is called tinting.
That is why it is white by default. The unit-based numerical value of white is 1, 1, 1. When you mutliply any number with 1, the original number comes out. When you tint with white, nothing happens.
To arrive at a specific color via multiplication (tinting) you have to use math. I don't want you to read the math if it's going to make your head explode. You can do it with trial and error, too.
Another part of the math is linear workflow, i.e. GC enabled. This means the same tint color will be mathematically different with and without GC.

There isn't one color that's tan; it's a wide range. IMO the go to beach and use that suggestion would probably be best.
WARK!

I don't think anybody needs to measure the resulting colors to decide it looks about right.
This sort of process with GC disabled is more difficult and confusing, since the results will depend quite a bit on the light levels as well. With GC enabled, everything will be consistent no matter how the lighting is set up.

Another read from Google
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tan_(color)
And as BB said, the color in diffuse_color in standard Poser material room, (or in Ezskin) is driven by the texture behind it.

Thank you so much everyone for you input!
Bill, I think your numbers result best. And you're right --- with my math expertice, my head would expload.....LOL.....
Wish I was in L.A. Miss Nancy ---- be a much warmer place all year round that's for sure.
Vilters --- Thanks for the read throughs --- I will check those out too as well. The info is greatly appreciated!

Aren't they? I truly appreciate Vilters help on that. Not sure on the Pantone scale, but those colors in one of the charts on the last one really helped out.
Actually, I have a thought --- to be able to select the color, I might load it up in Poser as a "background" image, then use the color selector on the square. That might really work out quite nicely. Then I can remove the background and put it in for the render.....

You can use the color selector on any window, even browser windows. You don't have to load an image in Poser to pick colors from it.

U can use the poser color picker, or any other color picker to get the RGB values.
This is dead easy when you work with dual monitors, or use Windows7 split screen option...
BTW, int he first link they are posted above the color picture.
Google is your friend for questions like this.
Just find the right search combination.

Hey all,
I was just wondering. I've started fooling around with EZ Skin, and sure I will love it, but just one question - if you say, take a photo in photoshop, and highly the "tan" skin, and enter the numbers in EZ Skin, should it work to give you a tan skin like what you see on models, etc?
Hoping to find some help with this. Like I said, fooling around with the program and liking it, just have to get used to the settings.....
