Subject: Wind Force not working for me

RLSprouse ( ) posted Sun, 23 September 2012 at 2:27 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 9:53 AM

Hi!  I am a brand new Poser user, and am going through the great new tutorials that were just released by Fugazi and ironman.

In the Cloth Room series, he shows how to use the Wind Force effect to make a dynamic dress appear more realistic.  I think I am doing exactly what he says, but the Wind Force seems to have no effect.  Any suggestions, anyone?

Windforce is broken in PP2012/P9 SR3. Wait for an update or install an earlier service release

yep tis broken, as stated above,we all have to wait for a fix to sr3

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

That's not all that's broken in SR3...

I've also found the "point at" doesn't get saved when you save a scene (at least on lights) and that if there is something off screen that's in wireframe element style, it'll be reflected as wireframe in a render ;). It's disappointing really.

This is the first time I have heard of these

Did you report these to SM?

LaurieA ( ) posted Sun, 23 September 2012 at 4:40 PM · edited Sun, 23 September 2012 at 4:42 PM

Not yet. I'm collecting a list ;) I've had some vertices popping out on some figures too since SR3 and I've heard others have as well by the thread postings. If the popping is random I'm not sure how they're gonna scare that problem down. LOL

SR3 also didn't eliminate the blue artifacts with displacement, SSS and IDL at larger resolutions -- though it did improve it rather dramatically.

I've seen that vertices popping problem too LaurieA. Using PP2012 SR3.

Hip region? When you bend a thigh? I can't even say definitively that it's SR3. It may have been around longer and I just haven't noticed...lol. The point at thing is really disappointing. I have to reset my spots to point at every time I reopen a file. Ugh. Half the time I forget and wonder why it looks odd when I render...heh.

and draping cloth over v4's head catches on the eyebrow, although there is a work around and has been reported by someone else

Yes LaurieA, in the hip area mostly. I have seen one in the left thigh of V4 when it was bent also, but it was very near the hip. I am using SR3 so I don't know if it was in earlier versions.

Can't reproduce. If you have a scene that makes this happen reliably please contact tech support immediately.

None of my lights are pointing at anything when I reload a scene. Eyes work tho.

OK, could you please submit the simplest possible scene you have that suffers from this to Tech Support? I pointed lights at Andy's feet, and they did exactly what they should after reloading the scene.
