THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: thinking of rejoining the Bryce world...question about my saved objects librarie

Lyne ( ) posted Thu, 18 October 2012 at 1:50 PM · edited Fri, 01 November 2024 at 3:27 PM

I have my object libraries saved from using my Bryce 6 that I worked SO hard "installing" in Bryce... will they work in the latest (that is the Bryce just before the latest at DAZ) version? I assume it is just like a Poser Runtime, in that I can drop them in, and they will be there?

Secondly, I just can NOT believe that I can't "import" a Poser figure with a map...I do NOT want to mess with DS for importing from Poser...I used to just save my exported (from poser) obj posed and the MAP for my animals- into one folder, THEN go to that folder to IMPORT into Bryce... for my own animals and birds this worked, as they have only ONE MAP....

Carrara is wonderful, but crashes if I ask much of it in rendering...so thinking of trying Bryce again... I have 32 bit, for my 32 bit win7 by the way...and I always update my win properly... it is: Bryce_7.1.0.109_Win32

THanks for any help and suggestions!

Lyne

(and in case anyone had not heard, I am giving away FREE my entire line of animasl and birds from my long closed on line store- See the FreeStuff Forum for my Thread. :)

Hi Lyne!

Thanks for those wonderful freebies! I've had those pages Bookmarked a long time.

As for your question I'm not sure, but:

Bryce is still backward compatable so if you still have your Bryce 6 scene files you can load them in and select and add objects in there to your libraries as the scene files save with the objects and textures inside.

Someone else will shortly answer your complete question.

Haven't used Poser in years but when I did, the procedure you mentioned of just putting the Poser exported obj into a folder with that meshes image textures worked fine for me (even when they had multiple textures). Of course each image texture needed to be tweaked in Bryce's Mat Lab, but still.

Nowadays...I don't know. But, when you do import an obj into Bryce (7.x), it going to ask you how you want to import it;

"OBJ Import" -  'Material', 'Obj group' or 'Obj group material'

So, you will want to try each of those three options, see if it gives you any better map placement.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Since Daz Studio has been free for years and is far better at bringing its meshes right into Bryce, I haven't used it in ages. But I do understand your preference of Poser, as I still like its GUI much better than Studio's confusing GUI.

AS:

Please read her first paragraph again. I think that may hold her main question.

Woops, sorry, I misunderstood as I thought you answered the Bryce .obp question. That's what I get for skimming.

Just drop them in and go Brycing, no problem. Yup, like a Poser Runtime folder. I've done it now In Bryce 7.x with all the various Bryce file types including Objects (.obp) that had originally been made in Bryce 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, and 6.3
