Subject: Poser to Blender (Cycles) Update

Since it is stuffed away in the Blender forum, but it really applies to Poser, as well, I thought I would mention that there is a pretty simple method to get from Poser to Blender Cycles.  Jacques made a really nice library for DS to get from DS to Blender, but it is a Blender Python library, and thus capable of taking data from other apps.

He wrote a short How-To for Poser in that thread, and I modified/created a script that will automatically use the mjcTeleblender framework from Poser to export OBJ, materials, camera, render size, etc...all into Blender, ready for a Cycles Render.

As an example, the pic below was a character I quickly setup in Poser, and I did the following:

  1. Ran the script
  2. In Blender, I had to change the eye surface and cornea to transparent
  3. Press "Render"

It's that simple!

Anyway, hopefully someone can have fun with it.  I am subscribed to both forums, but I know some are only subscribed to Poser here, so I thought it worth a post.  :tongue1:

good to know

I'll take a look see

I also do poser to blender stuff .. .... was going nuts on doing all materials by hand  in cycles

...thanks for that

Jacques did all the hard work, making the framework for it, for the materials.  Good stuff!  I just automated the use of his stuff via Poser, since I prefer it to DS.

Glad to see it may help ya, though!  Another freebie render exporter is a good thing!

(though if you dig into the script of mine, don't expect to be impressed...I code by trial and error, just to make things work  )

What can you do with it when you get it in there?  Can you still pose the figure?  Do morphs come in?  Can bullet physics be used for cloth or soft bodies?

Impressive.  Might be time to install blender again.
