Dear friends,

I have exported a character from Poser as collada dae.

After importing it as collada to Blender it looks like a dented tin can. It looks the same way in any other application so it has to be an Poser issue

What happened and how can I fix it?
How can I export a rigged character as collada?

Thank you all in advance

There are, uh, problems with the Poser collada export. To say the very least. LOL.

Collada is the worst possible exchange format I have ever come across for data interchange between all the modelling apps I have used to-date: Poser Pro through to Poser Pro 2012, Sketchup, Shade 8 through 10, Daz Studio 3 through 4.5, MeshLab, Hexagon 2.5, Blender and MakeHuman.  So.  It's just not very useful at all !

Takes a deep breath.  OK.  Can you consider using any other format ?

I would consider any other format that supports the transfer of a fully rigged character including the animated poses.

I had same sometime long ago. Re-starting Poser did the trick then, and the baking of morphs. Haven't seen it in Pro 2012.

Are you sure normals are OK and chest morphs are not double (FBM and local on the body part?)

Looks all fine for me.

Did an upgrade to SR3 and it fixed it all a bit. She doesn't look so miserable anymore but there are still some deformations I could not understand.

Btw. How do I bake morphs? Not sure if I needed it until now

Bake all morphs is one of the options in the Collada Exporter dialog.

my settings look like this.

Lots of settings are greyed out. Must be a Poser 9 issue. Probably with Poser Pro 2012 it will work, but buying it is not an option for now

Try exporting in mm units and leave out the normals. Not sure if this works, but Poser units are a bit a strange thing for other apps.

Better! Thanks bagoas! There are still some crudities like sharp edges in the armpits and the groin but it looks better all in all.

I'll play arround with some other settings and will post the result later.

Thanks a lot for your help - so far ;-)

Also, don't forget to turn the figure into a single skin before collada export. I think that's one of the newer steps to help with compatibility. It should be under Figure>Skinning Method.

unfortunately this doesn't work in P9...

AH, I missed that part of the title. Sorry about that.
