really cool. Thanks for that. Looks like a good resource site, too.

Hey Robynsveil, if you have probs with Blender mesh modelling or you want something made I am pretty good at it and can probably help.☺

I'm just down the road from you and I like to help my neighbours.

My only limit is time, I have a day job.

My only challenge in Blender atm is compiling from svn for Linux Mint 13 64-bit using the latest Boost and OiiO libraries (for jpg/tiff support)... doesn't seem to me anyone actually does this, or if they do, they're busy with something else.

Oh, and I'm a full-time nurse... doing shift-work, so yeah, similar position to you. 😄

Ah . . . . I went the Evil Empire way and got a Mac - everything in the box, but for a price. After having done stuff in DOS and other ugly text based systems back in the olden days I wanted something that at least was nice to look at since I would be staring at the screen a lot. well, that's my excuse. That and cutting the amount of time I actually didn't do anything except configure and set things up. I can still remember manually formatting text files for dot matrix printing AAAHHHHHHGGGGGG!!!!

Still, the offer stands.:)

I know my way round textures, I'm not so good at rigging (yet) and I still haven't got round to converting things to proper DAZ/Poser format but I'll get there. In theory you can make a buck selling stuff here - but I'm betting not enough to live off. Besides, putting it in a money framework would probably take all the fun out of it.

Prof_Null,

"In theory you can make a buck selling stuff here - but I'm betting not enough to live off. Besides, putting it in a money framework would probably take all the fun out of it."

I've been selling models here at Renderosity and other sites for many years now.

Making models in Blender is my hobby, I don't do this full time.  I have a full time job and am on the downhill side of 50.  I don't make anywhere near enough from this to live off, but if you put your eight hours a day into it then you can make a living from selling models.  The way I approach selling here is to not think about making things to sell but to model things I want to, that way it all stays fresh and fun.  If at the end of the modeling I am happy with the end result then I continue with its development until I get the model to a stage ready to sell.   This way the time invested in learning something new about Blender can then be sold as well.

My latest model is a case in point.  This started off as a personal project that finished off being put on sale in the Marketplace.  I know the aerodynamics of it will make you cringe but I thought it looked good!

Thanks for the info keppel, I'm just past 50 myself.  You have some great models there, and yes, you know it's not going to "fly" but you have not pretended that either - guess it must be antigrav huh?  I really like the GS-78 too.

I sort of plan to be making stuff for sale here in future - it would help to have a little help though, I've got you as a favourite artist now :)

That is some incredible modelling, Keppel! I'm flat-out making a cup...

Be awesome if Blender would support your materials... and these.

ETA: I did used to sell on here, but what with full-time recovery nursing eating me up during the day and family stuff and time becoming increasingly scarce, it became a burden and stopped being fun. I might sell again after I retire - not too many years away! - but I might just muck around with blender and Poser for now and enjoy it.

And try to sort out compiling this thing!

Prof_Null - Any questions just ask either in the forum or PM me, I'll be happy to help.

I also administor a website called Mesh Manglers where myself and a couple of other artists go to collaborate on some projects.  For example if you can model but not rig for Poser then collectively we can get your project ready for sale.

The invitation is open to all Blenderheads.

RobynsVeil - Yes, but it is a nice cup :)

"Be awesome if Blender would support your materials... and these"

The materials used in the render of my Strato Cruiser were all uvmapped textures.  They look the same when rendered in Cycles.  I only use Keyshot because it is much quicker to set up a scene and get a good looking render.  Cycles is much more flexible but it is still missing some key features that make the setup for a render more tedious.
