I don't know if this has already been covered here in the Poser Forum, but I'm not a happy camper with all this Genesis hype.

I've spent money at DAZ to get Michael 5, Victoria 5 and some clothes only to find out that non of the clothes for sale at DAZ will work in Poser. They only work in DAZ Studio. This is because of the difference in the Libraries.

Spent well over $100-. :-(

You have the option of either waiting until Daz updates them to work in Poser or you can convert them to Poser format yourself with DazStudio.

Thanks Laurie. I just tried for the first time to export one item as a CR2 and it's a painstaking job. Think I'll wait and hope for the best. :-(

If you use Genesis in Poser you don't have to convert them to a cr2-file. You can convert any existing piece of cloth to the new .duf format and after that you can convert it to a poser companion file ( .dson)

The workflow is as follows:

load the cloth in daz-studio, select it and in the file-menu select "save as" . Save it as a support asset (bottom of the list) and from  the next menu select "figure/prop asset".  and save it as a .duf to a directory in the daz-studio tree. ( I've made a directory in the daz -studio genesis clothing directory (daz-studio > people > genesis > clothing > Converted products). What follows is a menu to make a so called metadata file. The only thing you have to select here is the content type: which depends on the kind of cloth you're converting, example: wardrobe/pants.

After that you can locate it in the content library of daz-studio  (daz-studio > people > genesis > clothing > Converted products). It will have a "new' tag, which means it hasn't been used before.

Now you can convert it to a poser companion file.  But you have to do something first: you will have to add your poser-runtime to the Content libray, otherwise he won't find it. Select in the sub menu of the content library, the Content directory manager, in here choose poser-formats and add the your poser runtime. If it's already there, you won't have to do it.

Select your converted cloth in the content library. In the pull-down menu of content library choose: "Create poser companion file" In the sub menu that follows you can select your added poser runtime in the destination-base path, and you can add the directory where you want it in the supplemental path.

Once you have followed this procedure you can find your converted cloth in your poser character folder in the directory you have named in the supplemental path.

It looks like a lot of work, but once you're used to it, it goes rather quick. It's also possible to convert existing cloth for M4, V4, M3,V3 and more to the genesis-figure with autofit and make a poser file of it, the way I described. It works rather good with clothes, but I'm not happy (yet) with way shoes or boots ar converted.
