My son has volunteered me to his biology teacher to create a 3d model of a plant cell for her demonstrations in class.  She does have an older version of Poser, so .obj is fine.   I guess he doesn't fully understand that my main skill is in texturing, not modeling.

I'm pretty sure that for anyone with any real modeling abilities, these are 5-10 minute models to create.  I will post a pic now and then a follow up post with the details.  Some parts will be able to be done with primitives alone.

Once I have all the necessary models.  I will texture them and then pack them up.  I'll also create a short animation with labels for the parts.

Is there anyone who is willing to model even one or two of these parts for me?   The bad part is I need them quickly, preferably today.  My son is a gem at giving me virtually no notice for things.

So I need:

The Cell - including cell wall and cell membrane.

Mitochondrion

Chloroplast

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum

Golgi Bodies

The rest I believe I can do with primitives alone.

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Seems like most of these can be done with primitives (scaled and strecthed spheres, cylinders, etc), with a nice textures, such as:  http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/eukaryotic-animal-cell-3d-3ds/682308

That would be super quick.

That would be super quick.  But 31.00 gah lol.

The ones I listed were the ones I wasn't sure how to do with primitives.  Thanks for the tip, I will go that route if I can't get these any other way.

edit:  I've been able to do cell wall and membrane myself since posting.

Oh, no I didn't mean buying that, I just meant that it looked like that person modeled something that looked similar with only primitives.  I am not a good modeller, so I would look for the easy way out!  :tongue1:  Good luck!

@jjroland,

I'm on the way to having a (schematic) model of a plant cell. With a bit of luck I might get it finished sometime tomorrow evening. If you want to IM me with an email address I'll send you what I have so far.

That looks pretty good.

You know, that looks like it could be mostly done with simple primitives.

Would it be better to texture though, if it was actually modelled... and UV Mapped?

Nice model Les 👍
